Here are my two Toyotas:
4runner is a 95 with the 22RE and 5 speed. It is sas’d with 5.29 gears, and an ARB locker/compressor. I mostly use it for bombing around the local national forest with the wife, kid and two dogs but hoping to use it for some bigger adventures at some point. I have a 3...
I would not be mad if this was a 3.5L TT V6, 10 speed trans, with a coil sprung 5 link rear suspension. Not at all.
That would be like cherry picking some of the best features of the Big 3. Ram has the best interior and ride with the 5 link, but the hemi leaves a bit to be desired. Ford's...
What gears does yours have now? The diesels like mine came with 3.73's and I think the 4 cylinder models may have had 4.10's from the factory. You may be able to snag a 4 cyl diff from a pick-n-pull ready to go with 4.10's.
The front diffs on these are aluminum and notoriously weak. And they do use different gears than the regular D30. I think between the 5.13's and the locker you could end up cracking the housing if you get into a tight spot. Just something to watch out for.
8 mpg is really bad unless its a headwind. I get 9.5-10 mpg towing my 5500 lb 8' wide travel trailer @ 70mph with my 2014 3.5L. In poor conditions it will drop lower, but so would any other truck. I've seen as low as 6.7 mpg pulling across WY at 70mph in a 25-30mph headwind but that was...
You guys always get the cool stuff! Like HDPP in the Lariat trim!
Yeah i tried twice with both a supercrew and supercab, and when I tried to switch to the 36 gallon tank it was forcing me to drop the 2.7 PP. Upgrading to a 36 gallon tank is not hard though. If I really had my mind set on a 2.7...
I dont know exactly what comes on the 2.7 PP trucks, but Ford has 3 different frames that they put under the F150. An LD, HD and HPP. The LD is what you get if you order a 2.7 or 3.3L. The HD comes on the 5.0 and 3.5 trucks. HPP comes on the HDPP trucks. Its possible they don't equipt the 2.7...
Nice truck. I picked up a 2011 GX460 last year when my 2006 Jeep Liberty CRD decided to window the block. I bought it with the intention to build it up but, since owning it, I have decided to keep it most stock and picked up a SAS'd 95 4Runner to abuse in the woods. I will likely put a lift and...
There are many guys with north of 300k miles on the 1st gen Ecoboost F150's that have done nothing but regular maintenance and maybe replaced the throttle body or other minor things. We had one guy on the F150 Ecoboost forum who had a 2011 that he used for his landscaping business. It towed a...
How much can you spend?
The Ford 2.7 ecoboost has been pretty bulletproof. I know you said no turbos but people have very few issues with them and they get stellar MPG’s. The 3.5 Ecoboost is the one with issue, although they are not catastrophic issues and are mostly due to stretched timing...
