Vans: Interior Size, Things to Inspect?

If you want to keep your ability for seating and retain the stock bench seat I would go with and extended body van. I have regular body and am planning on being able to fit two bikes inside, but I am doing an entire interior/seating remodel. When I'm done I will have room to take 3 passengers...

Really nice work in the back. Love how it turned out. Really clean

    2006 E350 surf/moto/camper build

No problem. That's what I was finding as well, so I jumped on it when I found these.

    2006 E350 surf/moto/camper build

Bought mine off of ebay. Link is included, the guy I got mine from. Usable storage, and easy mod. Very happy with it. Thanks Sea.Jay, stoked to get it going. Haven't seen too many camper/conversion types in the passenger van-style, so I'm excited to see what I can come up with. Console link on...

    2006 E350 surf/moto/camper build

New center console clips right on. I did use some force, but that was because the used one I got was a little warped. But yes, clip right in. Much more functional than the old one with 4 useless cupholders...

    2006 E350 surf/moto/camper build

Did a little work to the van the past few days. Picked up some 2013 take-out seats down in Southgate from a guy who does conversions on vans. Not great work from what I saw, but he had tons of stuff for both Ford and Chevy vans. Paid $300 for them, but when I went to install them there were...

    Vanimal: 4x4 Sprinter build

RB components makes some great quality stuff. A family that we go camping/race with has quite a few of their motorcycle-specific products in their trailer, and they are very sturdy, well-built. Reasonable pricing as well for what you get.

VANdiana Jones sequel: The Legacy Continues

Awesome. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with!

VANdiana Jones sequel: The Legacy Continues

Yeah, I saw that. Going to stick with the track I have, and use that for the seats. Looked into the flush mount with a flange, but it won't sit flush, my flooring is 3/8, not 5/8, and the distance from the bottom of the L-track to the flange is 1/2. So it would stick up anyway. Lesson learned...

VANdiana Jones sequel: The Legacy Continues

I impulse bought one stick on Amazon to see how I liked it. Seems nice, I believe it is from Steadymate. However, it is advertised as "Surface Mount" track, so I think I'll be keeping this for other Tie-down locations, and getting some different flush-mount stuff for my floor. I saw US Cargo...

VANdiana Jones sequel: The Legacy Continues

Think I'm going to go with the L-track. Going to have to wait a little bit to lay my floor now, but hopefully not too long, I'd like the L-track to sit semi-flush with the floor, so I need to know where the seats are going to go before I put the L-track in, and I need to modify one of the seat...

VANdiana Jones sequel: The Legacy Continues

Yeah, I'm really trying to think it all out the way I want to have it done so I don't have to do it twice. Any pro's/cons to having the seats bolt into the L-track? Now I'm thinking of putting the floor down, and then putting the L-track on top of the floor in a different area, and not worrying...

VANdiana Jones sequel: The Legacy Continues

That's what I was thinking. Had a long conversation yesterday with my uncle about it, and that's what we were most worried about. Thanks for the info, I'll definitely be through-bolting most of it then. Seats are going to be facing each-other, behind the drivers seat. Kind of like a Vanagon...

VANdiana Jones sequel: The Legacy Continues

Thinking of doing the same thing for my two seats in my van. However, I was thinking of using riv-nuts through the floor for the L-track. Do you think that would be strong enough in a crash, or accident scenario? I don't want something to happen while driving, have people back there, and have...

    2006 E350 surf/moto/camper build

Bit the bullet today and tore into the van. Took the seats out, carpet, gave it a good sweep, vacuum and cleaning, and then laid down the FatMat, and cut the OSB for the base of the van. I took a page out of volcomsurfer's build and used some 2x4's to shim the OSB down for a snug fit on the...

    2006 E350 surf/moto/camper build

Yeah, it is pretty park bench like. Going to check out a couple of seats tomorrow hopefully. It may work out, I just need to see them in the van first and see if its even conceivable. Thanks for the tip.

    2006 E350 surf/moto/camper build

So after pulling everything out of the van, and starting to measure things up, my plan to have two seats facing each-other behind the driver may be a little far-fetched. I was going for a VW-style interior, without the full bench across the back. However, with the RB van, that looks like it may...

    Vanimal: 4x4 Sprinter build

I like what you did with your L-Track. are your screws going into the actual metal floor of the van at all, or just the stock flooring? Putting a floor in my van starting next week, and deciding whether to drill through the floor and mount the L-track with a through bolt and nut, or just screw...

    2006 E350 surf/moto/camper build

Motocross race at Glen Helen. 6 guys, and 2 bikes. Unfortunately, we DNF'd. Locked up one motor about 5 or 6 hours in, and then had a fuel tank issue during the night. Oh well, always next year. We've raced it a few times before, always a good time. And thanks! Got 75 square feet of FatMat, the...
