    Wall construction and insulation

Following your progress, great info here. I have an aluminum truck body that I’m converting to a camper and have been debating how to insulate. I have been leaning toward no vapor barrier at all and just letting moisture condense/evaporate as it likes. Such a tough call. I have been avoiding...

JDM Toyota Dyna 4x4 Build Thread

So time to start adding info on the mods so far and some questions for moving ahead. Really haven’t done much mod-wise. The main progression so far has been bigger rims and tires which not only has helped increase clearance but also give a smoother ride and lower rpm’s at highway speeds. The...

JDM Toyota Dyna 4x4 Build Thread

Sorry, was thinking you meant payload, GVWR (Or GVM as they put it in the spec sheets) is 3500kg It’s a 1.25t payload, I think this is due to the quad cab, without the quad cab, payload is rated at 1.5t

Camper Build for JDM 4x4 Toyota Dyna Truck

I used a company out of Calgary to import it called Zen Auto. It’s a guy who imports vehicles as a side-gig and it was pretty painless. Totally worth the money in my opinion. He even came to the registry with me to make sure there weren’t any issues registering the truck. Total cost of the...

Camper Build for JDM 4x4 Toyota Dyna Truck

Haha, you’re not they first to almost wreck while checking out the truck! We get some pretty funny looks everywhere we go. Guessing this was in SLC? We were on our way to the desert for some sun and off-road adventures.

Show us your Toyota 4runner, tacoma or truck.

Thanks! Fuel economy is quite good, economy doesn’t actually seem to change a lot if the truck is empty or loaded down. Pretty much a steady 23-24mpg. Pretty comfortable to ride in, a bit noisy, but have done a few 10h plus drives and not bad at all. The bigger tires made a big difference.

JDM Toyota Dyna 4x4 Build Thread

You are correct, it is a 150 series. And yes, shares many parts with similar era Toyota trucks/4x4s. And yes, it’s a torsion bar IFS. I think the GVWR is 1.25 tonnes, I actually need to weight the truck itself to see what it weighs on its own. I live in Canada, and anything over 15 years is...

Camper Build for JDM 4x4 Toyota Dyna Truck

Here’s a few pictures with the camper on the truck, truck drives great with the camper on. Actually smoother with the suspension settled a bit. I wanted to get it on and try it out before proceeding with the build to make sure it was going to work ok with the truck. So far very happy with it...

Camper Build for JDM 4x4 Toyota Dyna Truck

I’m in Canada, after 15 years it’s pretty much free-reign on importing vehicles. I’ll post up a few pictures of the camper on the truck, the camper is an old utility body, built by Nortruck in Calgary Canada but the company has gone out of business. It’s 100% aluminum so a reasonable weight...

Glue furring strips to aluminum canopy?

Thanks everyone for the responses! Much appreciated. I have debated both Sika and VHB. Will have to do more research for my specific application. I should have noted that the Aluminum is powder coated both inside/out, hoping this means that less prep work will be required over bare aluminum...

Glue furring strips to aluminum canopy?

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone can recommend an adhesive that would hold strong enough to attach wood furring strips to the interior of an aluminum canopy body? (Approx 1/8" thick aluminum sheeting makes up the body) I have an old aluminum slide in utility body that I'm in the early stages of...
