COOPER DISCOVERER - Trying to enter the Maze of Canyonlands ending in failure

Thank you for the lesson. I've been itching to take an off-road driving class.

COOPER DISCOVERER - Trying to enter the Maze of Canyonlands ending in failure

??? I have never had a puncture or damaged a sidewall while running 40-45 psi. I did several when I aired down to 20. This sidewall failure is clearly not a blowout, but a flexed sidewall cut on a protruding rock or ledge. That said... Great trip and great photos. This can be a pretty...

Lone Pine to Laurel Lakes - Things don't always go according to plan.

Great places. I am glad you decided to take the back roads around Mono Lake.

Lone Pine to Laurel Lakes - Things don't always go according to plan.

We also used to dip in Hot Creek - but things have changed dramatically after a few small earthquakes in the area. The area in the creek (the Northern shore, right near the blue cauldron-like place) where people used to warm themselves up became very hot. I believe couple of people scalded...

Nothing like waking up a campground owner at 11 pm in Valley Falls, Oregon.

Short Day Trip Old Highway 80

Thanks - I will. I read up on the history of 395 last year - before driving about 800 miles on it; it was fascinating.

Short Day Trip Old Highway 80

Thank you, Old 80 is on my list of roads to drive on. I enjoy even occasional blacktop trips on 94 as well - just need to slow down and enjoy it.

By Land and Sea to Berkeley, Big Sur and Back.

Berkeley. Not that it matters terribly on the grand scale of things.

    LR3 light mount ideas (opinions)

Nice way to have eight forward-facing lights total. Maybe I missed a few.

COOPER DISCOVERER. I wasted $10 000.00 because I listened to my wife.

There's so much wrong in this story...

ExploreDesert - Cuddeback - Ridgecrest - Trona Pinnacles

Awesome. I was about to ask how you got around China Lake Echo range, but then saw the Ridgecrest BLM map that showed the route. This Mojave Desert crossing is on my bucket list now!

Camping and adventure roads near Pioneertown?

Burns Canyon Road leads to Big Bear Lake area - a good easy/moderate four wheel drive trail. There are some side "excursions" looping back to Burns Canyon Rd - some may be bad enough to turn a weekend into an "adventure." Also, trails 1N01 and 1N04 split off that road and end at Hwy.38 near 8000...

    California Highway 395

The original U.S. 395 goes all the way to Mexican border. Parts of the 395 are still labelled as such in San Diego County.

    California Highway 395

US 395 is plain awesome. My favorite road - although I've only been as far on it as Lakeview, OR. http://3rj.org/TheSpineOfIdaho/us395.htm

    The Owyhee

We did eat a pound and a quarter of bacon between two of us - we just couldn't stop. No enthusiasm for dinner that day...

Overland Frontier: Anza-Borrego Desert Iconic Trails & Oasis Journey

Funny that I should come across this thread while thinking lazily of where I should go to Anza Borrego on Saturday... Dos Cabesas Road and Jojoba Canyon are on my list. It was very cool of you to post the historical references!
