    GMT400 vs GMT800 Suburban

Says the man that has never owned a 2500. What exactly breaks more often? I have owned both 1500 and 2500 gmt800s. Granted the 1500s were P/Us and a tahoe, but it is the same drivetrain and running gear. I do know what breaks more often. The 1500 suspension and steering components and wheel...

    GMT400 vs GMT800 Suburban

This is a very accurate statement. My 8.1 sees 1-2 mpg less than the old 6.0 unloaded. If i stay around 2300rpm (70+mph) its an mpg or less different than my old 6.0. The problem is the torque is just so easy to play with. Coming back to TX when I bought it from the east coast I got 13.5mpg over...

    GMT400 vs GMT800 Suburban

Roland keep watching Craigslist. Im in deep deep south TX so I was watching from brownsville to texarkana. There were a lot of 2500s with less than 140k for well under 10k and several 8.1s for right around 10k with 100k on them around houston to dallas. They were just all liftgates. Make sure...

    GMT400 vs GMT800 Suburban

CRoland you mentioned ride and I forgot to cover it. The 2500 is a little stiffer unloaded especially with the stock 245/75 e rated tires. It has front torsion bars and leaf springs in the back. But its not bad, my wife prefers riding in it because of the ride and the seats over my 5 series...

    GMT400 vs GMT800 Suburban

I dont like the tailgates. I prefer to be able to reach the back of the second row seats without having to climb up into the truck. The liftgates can be head knockers when youre over 6' and tend to fall when its cold. Plus my wife is only 5' she has issues reaching the liftgate. They are better...

    GMT400 vs GMT800 Suburban

Having owned several gmt400s and gmt800s in both P/U and Burb/Hoe configurations and in both 1500 and 2500 I speak from experience when I say you cant go wrong with either if you look and wait for a nice clean one. Currently I own a 99 k2500 ccsb 5.7(350)/4l80e and a 01 k2500 Burb...

    Seventh Gen Suburban?

    1994 Full Size Blazer project

Wow! Jealous and reminiscent at the same time. Ive had 4 blazers from a 72 to a 94 like yours. Seeing that interior just brings back a lot of memories. Beautiful truck.

    Texas overlanding anyone?

Thanks for the input guys. Trying to convince the wife we should go. Were planning a relocation back east soon so lots of packing and reduction, she's pregnant, and we have 3 dogs that need to ride along so its an uphill battle.

    Texas overlanding anyone?

Are the majority of the roads, trails in the NP and SP doable in a 4x4 2500 suburban? Ive got a good bit of clearance, little more than the z71 half ton but its still a suburban. Can you see a good bit on mostly fire roads or two track? Or do you need to cover more technical rocks and ledges?

    Texas overlanding anyone?

Guys thanks for the advice Im trying to talk the wife into a trip up to BB in January depending on weather. Id like to get a trip in as it looks like we may be moving to the NE. Outside of exploring NM I really havent had much of a chance to crawl around the SW. Well maybe in a few years a...

    Texas overlanding anyone?

RoadWarrior I was wondering about Big Bend specifically. Just looking for good places to hit in the park. Im about 10 hours from the park and I havent made the trip yet. Also what Brazos are you refering to? All I can think of is Brazos County but its not really coastal.

    post your Suburban pics

Thanks I found a bunch of 8.1 2500s while looking but they all had high miles, ratty interiors, or a liftgate. This one ticked all the boxes. Barndoors, low miles, spotless cloth (dont like leather) interior (it will be used as a soccer mom mobile occasionally) 8.1, and a g80 in the rear.

I havent been here in a while and just joined the suburban club. This is my unicorn. I looked pretty hard for 6-8 months. Its a 2001 2500 4x4 8.1 with only 93k miles. I posted in the fullsize pics but figured I should throw it in here too. Plans are simple for now. Full size roof basket with...

My new beastie. I searched for months looking for the right burb. Its a 2001 2500 8.1 w/barn doors and only 93k miles. Its going to be my family hauling, dog toting, boat towing, camping, hunting, fishing, shooting rig. I already added the roof rack as it had been removed. While I liked the...

    Hi, from Pennsylvania

You might have luck finding a used one on CL for a 4 runner jeep or similar. With a little fab work it probably wouldnt take much to get one to fit. Where in PA are you? Im originally from about halfway between Erie and da Burgh.

AC stopping at idle on 02 Monty.

It was doing it and I hooked up the manifold and the pressure was good. Ill check it again. I checked the fan and it works. So im guessing either a high low situation or a bad switch.
