    2004 Tundra Adventure Cab - Build/Adventure Thread

Thumbs up for sliders! That rock garden looks like a rough ride. Pretty sure my longer wheelbase would never make it through that.

Let me know what you find out. I have a suspicion that my new carrier bearing is junk. My driveshaft is perfectly balanced now, but I still have shaking. The carrier bearing squeaks and is easily heard at slow speed. I guess the shaking now could be out of balance tires, but they've been...

Love the truck! How does it ride now with front SAS and rear springs? How difficult was it to swap to the longer springs in the back? Are those rear brackets readily available or did you have to fab those?

Project: Driveshaft balance Purpose: I had my driveshaft balanced a month ago and though everything felt great early on, it started to shake worse than before later. i noticed that the two halves of the shaft were out of phase with each other and wanted to get it right so I didn't have to...

I wouldn't be surprised if the shackle bushings are seized. Every other bushing I've removed on the truck has been seized. I had to cut off one of my stock lower shock bolts on the front, and a shop had to cut off all for cam bolts as well. All of them were seized to the metal inner bushing...

Let's see....things that go with white: Moby ********, The White Whale, Cap'n Ahab, Stormtrooper, Pearl, White Flag of Surrender, White Cliffs of Dover, Ghost, Pale Horseman, etc. In all seriousness though, white is my favorite color on a truck. The rescue you performed on the paint is phenomenal...

Baja Designs Squadron lights in the bumper. I have the the Sport line, wide cornering in amber. Plenty of light for what I need and not enough to blind people if I use them on the road. For reference, here's a good shot of what the sliders look like on my truck (I know you went back and...

Jake’s 1st Gen Tundra Camping Build & Trips

The Brute Force sliders with the rear kick out are designed to stick out a bit more. They are not see low profile as some sliders. The square tube sits right below the edge of the body, keeping it out of harm's way. The kick outs need to stick out past the fenders to protect them. I have put...

That definitely sits pretty high with the bed unloaded. I'd definitely be interested in seeing how everything feels if we can ever get our schedules to match up. I'm running a different size tire than you, so the measurement from ground to fender is going to vary. What is the measurement from...

Very nice. I wouldn't worry about the front height. Likely it will settle in a bit as you drive. And better to have a little room to spare on the lift, rather than sagging down. Personally I prefer the level look you have over a raked stance.

Wow! Can't believe that happened. I need to get under mine and check it out.

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

Very true, and I completely accept that. My truck will never be a rock crawler or a pre-runner, and really has to be a jack of all trades. Daily driving, cargo hauling, towing, washboard forest roads, and technical trails. I know it's a lot to ask of it, but I'm sure that the current...

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

I've heard the same regarding the G57 packs. Nice ride, but much lower payload capacity. Would using Timbren's in the back help at all with towing? What about Archive Garage/Deaver Overland packs? Would those ride okay with the bed mostly unloaded? Future plans are for a rear bumper with...

My front sway bar is disconnected and has been for a year. LBJ's, tie rods, and Camburg UCA's all have around 10k on them. LCA bushings are new. The Icon coilovers are old and used, and definitely need to be rebuilt. The clunk/pop happens whenever the driver's wheel hits a decent...

Trip Report Buck Meadows Jeep Trail, Manastash WA My friend and I hit up a local Jeep trail today for a morning run. We did the same trail last year, but it's still fun. It's a little over 6 miles in length and varies between open areas and many extremely tight spots. It's a tight fit in...

I'm east side of the mountains, between Yakima and Cle Elum. It's not too far of a drive for you....we ought to meet up and hit some trails. There are three major trail systems around me: Liberty, Naches, and Manastash. I haven't done the first two, but have explored a few of the trails in...

Good point, and yes painting is cheap insurance. We don't have it as bad here in WA as you do in New York, but it's not ideal either. They're easy to remove, so I may end up pulling them off, applying a bit of paint, then putting them back on. I had forgotten about the depth difference...

That's what the rubber washers are for. They squeezed out nice and evenly on all bolts so they should be well-sealed. I may be totally wrong on this, but I would think the rubber washers would seal out water and moisture very well. When they build pole barns around here they drill right...
