I have no skin in the game, sorry I said anything. If buyers are willing to pay the price a supplier is asking then the circle is closed and the market works.
It just sounded like one of the companies was pulling from the same limited pool of suppliers and marking things up a lot. That's not...
Overloaded springs are gonna be harsh regardless. At least with leaf springs it's easy to put a fail safe overload spring in. With coils you have to wind them progressive so you end up with either compromised travel or harsh ride to carry the payloads. It's ultimately the same problem either...
If the itch hasn't been scratched driving a pickup by now it won't ever. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool pickup person but I think for most people they make no sense. More comfortable inside an SUV, fully enclosed space.
If you could know something would drop in price and by how much you should probably be investing in the stock market rather than worrying about batteries.
My guess is that they should continue to drop in price, most things in technology do. That's the usual assumption because R&D is recovered...
I don't know what the approach is for Chevy but I think it's pretty much understood how Toyota deals with it on the Tacoma and 4Runner.
There's a cab mount behind the front wheels which years ago on Pickups and earlier 4Runner was just a cab mount. The location is slightly unfortunate when you...
We used to be able to buy real Scepter MFC, both new and military surplus, but they are no longer legal to sell in the U.S. So the price for the now all used ones remaining has increased, about double now what they were ten years ago. I like Scepter cans but definitely not if they cost 3 times...
I think ValPro is the actual manufacturer for Wavian (e.g. I believe the real deal contract supplier) NATO cans, so either Scepter or ValPro would be of similar quality, e.g. actual military fuel cans.
The question is whether your preference is for steel or plastic. I converted completely to...
Didn't say you were wrong. Just presenting a different opinion. Thimbles aren't rated, I was referring to the soft rigging you alluded to for weight. I prefer a rated shackle that can be tested over soft shackles.
We're always going to disagree on several points here, so suffice to say my belief is the fewest connections that are properly rated is the safest rigging system. Fewer or inappropriate parts isn't safer just because there's less mass. The safest rigging is the one that doesn't fail.
I know...
It's a matter of opinion so what you or I think along with $5 gets you a coffee at Starbucks. I run a safety thimble personally because I like the reduced risk of losing a finger and prefer a shackle over a hook. If that means some theoretical increasing risk on a fairlead then fine. I think...
I don't see how this supports your dislike of safety thimbles one way or the other. Seems like there's plenty of poorly conceived winch mounts that look to me like they're waiting to damage something.
I'm an Atom convert, from Vi too.
The Ellisys BT tracker is expensive but it's actually about typical for commercial grade. Being able to sniff concurrently all 40 channels (mainly the 3 advertising channels simultaneously means multiple front ends) of Bluetooth spectrum with a noise floor of...
LOL, I usually use "Best Regards" for professional correspondence since its neither too formal nor too personal. Just the right amount of noncommittal. For forum business I'd probably just go with "best," though.
There's tremendous value in doing the legwork to track down a part and offer it for sale. Just saying that information travels across the Internet easily and quickly so if there is a reason to pay the asking price it is worthwhile saying so.
It happens big and small or strictest DLA QPL. There's in the hundreds of suspected ones annually and some that aren't caught until test. Wouldn't surprise me if a few have gotten through and are sitting in something operating.
Wonder if it's a way to meet pedestrian mandates. Is there a bumper or crash bar all the way across on these new front ends?
IMO no but I still hate the front end of my Tacoma and in comparison it's very bland in today's world.
