Most of us will never attempt to drive through water deep enough to need a snorkel. They are mostly eye candy unless you live in a 3rd world country with horrible roads and lots of river crossings. I personally would never do it with my 20+ year old truck that I rely on. I’ll stick with driving...
I’ve got grief from others here before for this, but all I’d do with those vacuum lines is snip the end off a few mm and push it back on. That’s what I did years ago and everything is fine, original lines (1998 so 20+ years old). I doubt you’ll have a hole in the middle of the hose, it’s...
If you are going that deep you should replace the seals where the injector fits into the manifold. Those are a prime candidate for unmetered air leaking into cylinders.
220k and never done em. Haven’t done my fronts though either. Interesting topic, I hope people chime in. I think rears last longer since they aren’t subjected to the same forces as turning wheels are.
Motor wouldn’t need to be pulled but you would need to remove the intake plenum down to the manifold. There is a coolant hose at the back of the engine that is probably the source of your leak.
put some UV dye in your system and drive it for a day or two then park it in a dark garage and zero...
What I did in the video did not trigger a CEL. I don't think you would get a CEL unless the trims were excessive (I think they max out at + / - 25%) If everything is operating to spec (fuel pressure, injectors, MAF reading correctly, o2 sensors are good and all seals and gaskets are keeping air...
The link should work this time. I tried to post this earlier and the video wouldn't work.
Anyway this topic comes up from time to time and I thought it would be helpful for people to see how the engine control system responds to an air leak in real time.
In this video you will see that when...
If it’s wheel bearings and they are that bad they will produce heat. You should be able to feel it with the back of your hand or measure it with an IR thermometer (the disc won’t get hot but the bearing housing / hub will). It would be odd to me if both front calipers were dragging at the same...
