Scott Brady shared his thoughts about "what is necessary for overland travel" yesterday at Cruiserfest.
Maybe he will post a link to his slides when he gets back.
Always tradeoffs to consider.

Wow! How'd I miss your build thread Paul? I just came across it today.
Sweet. And that water solution - as someone already wrote - genius.
I assume Adam meant CruiserFest - if so, hope to check out your rig in person.
Great pics and writeup - got me rethinking about my next vehicle.
Great pics and thanks for sharing.
We've done many of the same routes, but never hooked them all together. Goodonya!
When we did Spooky and Peek-a-Boo it was over 100 down in the canyons - but we still had a blast.
Gotta go with the 100 if you're looking for 20k comfort filled miles - :)
And at 100 nights w/ your vehicle, take out the second and third row seats (or fold up the second row after taking out the third row) and you'll be set.
An interesting place! Last time we were there we were short on time (trying to get back to SLC from Moab) and didn't get a chance to explore the area.
Thanks for the report - great pics and an interesting look at history.
There's got to be a good story around this one.
Thanks for sharing this trip report.
I showed these pics to my wife - she was up there shortly before we got married and on a trip down the river. She hasn't been back since.
Now she wants to go back.
:)
