Ram 2500 XL for overland / expedition trips

1300 miles is already a lot. 2000 miles of range is insane...I don't even think the dedicated Aussie overland rigs have that much range. You're pretty much a self-sufficient mothership at that point....just put a little bucket in the bed and you'll be able to go 1-2 weeks without stopping...

    Another Ram 3500 build...

So, I don't want to side-track this thread too much but in regards to the aux switches: if you do blow a fuse, can you upgrade or change it out so that you won't have the same problem when trying to turn on an accessory with a high amperage? I'm just trying to get a feel if the aux switches are...

Pelfreybilt ::: Toyota Tundra Front Bumper (14-18)

What kind of winch can it take (what capacity)?

Long distance off-road capable moto hauler…

What I especially like about the Ram w/ 6.7l Cummins is that a DEf gauge is provided. I think Ford provides a digital gauge that you can toggle to, but the other companies don't provide any indication until the DEF goes below a certain point....totally stupid IMHO. I'm glad FCA saw the wisdom...

2018 Ram 3500 G56 Expedition Family Adventure Vehicle

Well if you end up modifying that skid, please post pictures showing what you did. I'm sure other ARB bumper owners would love to see how it works.

    How important is GVWR?

You sound pretty testy to me....maybe you should do some breathing exercises and go air out your feelings in that thread we set up for you.

    Another Ram 3500 build...

Where do you get that info for the upfitter switches? I've wondered what their limitation was, but never could find that info. FWIW, I think the ARB Twin air compressor will draw 56A at max air flow: ARB Twin Air Compressor Accessories, like winches, would obviously draw a lot more than that...

    How important is GVWR?

I did answer you actually. You asked that question in another thread. But I think you post and write so much that you tend to forget the topics assigned to each thread. Ignore works both ways. I'm fine with seeing your tangential comments, so long as I'm able to give you crap for them...;)...

2018 Ram 3500 G56 Expedition Family Adventure Vehicle

What is your plan for modifying the front skid? I do like how ARB at least provides some sort of protection for the intercooler. I don't know of any other bumper company that does the same for the Ram.

    How important is GVWR?

I think we need a dedicated sub-forum for @Clutch to pontificate on his world views and experiences. That should help with keeping the other threads on topic.

    How important is GVWR?

Do you understand that some of the newer ones are built in Mexico? You're trying to derail this thread with yet another argument about how diesel doesn't make sense when no one even asked for your feedback on that issue. These tangential posts of yours are all too common; and to be honest, I...

    How important is GVWR?

What do you mean? A "Chinese-built" engine would be right at home in a Mexican-built pickup. ;)

    First Rig Purchase.

Are you looking for a pickup or a SUV? The Tacoma resale values are pretty ridiculous nowadays (which is why a lot of people argue that it makes sense to buy new). If you're willing to consider SUV's there are 4runners, GX 460's (basically a Lexus version of the 4runner), Nissan Xterra's...

    How important is GVWR?

Okay, but do you understand that you can still load up certain vehicles in a manner that exceeds GAWR without exceeding GVWR? Both GVWR and GAWR are ratings that the OEM puts in place to provide safety guidelines for the owners/operators. You can make an assumption and try to overload beyond...

    F-150 Diesel

Yep i do. Both with gasoline and diesel 4x4’s. The gasoline engines work; the Diesel engines work better and more efficiently. Some people will pay the premium for that extra performance, others won’t. All the major brands have decent reliability nowadays, and all of them have exceptions to...

    How important is GVWR?

While I'm sure no one here as the official gouge from FCA, the unofficial consensus is that the frames for the 2500 and 3500 are pretty much the same (excepting the mounting configurations for the different suspension types as you noted).

    F-150 Diesel

This coming from the guy who routinely preaches the superiority of the Church of the Latter-Day Ford Trucks. Pot, meet kettle... I have no problem acknowledging my specific likes and dislikes for any particular brand, to include Toyota and Ram.

Land Cruiser 100 series - long range fuel tank

All right. So I guess a better way to phrase my question is: Has anyone done any sort of crash testing on these rear-mounted auxiliary fuel tanks?
