2018 Ram 3500 G56 Expedition Family Adventure Vehicle

It's interesting that the stock springs sag that much. Does FCA make a set of HD springs for snow-plow duty?

2018 Ram 3500 G56 Expedition Family Adventure Vehicle

Are you running a stock front suspension or an aftermarket one? FWIW, I think that steel cable suits these trucks very well. A HD winch/cable for an HD truck. I'd think that moving the extra weight over a synthetic line isn't going to be an issue for that 6.7l Cummins.

Advice Needed:: Tacoma owner considering a ZR2

I wish there was a dislike button on this forum....I disagree with almost everything that you said. BTW, if you buy a brand new, optioned-out pickup and plan to keep it for an extended duration of time, depreciation will be the single biggest cost of ownership, especially if its gasoline...

    Ram with canopy

@RF2200 are you a sales rep for PCOR? If so, maybe dial your sales pitch back a bit. We don't need 5 consecutive posts telling us why PCOR tray and canopy is the best solution for a Ram pickup. And BTW, if you look closely at all the pictures you posted, you'll notice that the regular pickup...

FCA recall on alot of vehicles

Anyone have a detailed news article for reference? I've heard through the grapevine that this recall only applies to gasoline Ram pickup's.

    Toyota fortuner 2018

It's Toyota's overseas SUV which is based on the Hilux platform. I haven't seen a whole lot of reviews on it, but I'd assume it's mostly reliable based on the Hilux's reputation. I don't know that many countries outside of developing markets (Asia, Africa, Middle East) get it. I think it's...

    Colorado Duramax thread

I think you're being a little selective with your examples there. Go look at the max payload for Ram 1500's and Tundra's with v8 engines and 4wd and double cabs....they're generally around 1.4k-1.6k payload ratings depending on the configuration and engine choice. That's not much different...

    Colorado Duramax thread

Non zr2 Colorado’s have a slightly higher payload, as do certain Tacoma’s. The difference between those and he 1.7k of the Silverado isn’t all that great is my point. Overseas markets do get more HD mid sized pickups. But also keep in mind they have different safety standards. A hilux would...

    Ram with canopy

Yeah, I've seen that company's website before. I don't know much about their product quality, but they sure do need to update their website and re-evaluate their marketing strategy.

    Colorado Duramax thread

Yeah, I understand that you can option some of these 1/2 ton's have payloads of 2k lbs or higher. But when you account for the way most of these trucks are actually optioned (4wd, smaller bed, ect.) the payloads are limited to around 1.5k-1.6k lbs, which is pretty neutered especially when you...

    Colorado Duramax thread

Dang, not much of a difference there. It kind of reaffirms my personal view that it makes sense to either go ultra-light and compact with a midsized platform (Tacoma, Colorado) or go all out with a 3/4 ton. The engine options on the 1/2 tons are decent enough, but they seem extremely neutered...

    Ram with canopy

@Clutch, can you tell me what brand that canopy/tray setup is? That setup actually seems pretty decent in terms of space compared to the Patriot Camper's setup. If the components are widely available and cheap (or at least priced competitively with other aftermarket flatbeds), I could see the...

    Ram with canopy

Put a drawer system in the pickup bed and install a truck cap with opening side windows or doors and you have pretty decent access from the sides. Or use a slideout system. The North American aftermarket gives you plenty of options. The tray/canopy system perhaps offers slightly better...

modern diesel for overlanding in developing countries - post your solutions

All the newer diesels with emissions (SCR, EGR, DPF) will run into problems with diesel fuel quality in 3rd world countries. Even the venerable Toyota diesels, which are now being sold with EGR and DPF's in developed markets, have been known to have reliability issues. Toyota, and other global...

    Ram with canopy

I saw that recent video too. Don't get me wrong...that Tundra build looks pretty dang cool. Whether or not that tray/canopy setup offers any true benefits over just a regular pickup bed with a drawer/slideout system and cap....I don't know. A regular bed gives you a lot of flexibility when it...

    Colorado Duramax thread

I agree. I'm just pointing out that, despite the different word choice in the OEM manuals, the Colorado and Tacoma both have payload ratings that would make them unsuitable for carrying most bed campers.

modern diesel for overlanding in developing countries - post your solutions

The best solution for running a diesel in overseas (non western) areas is to get an older diesel vehicle that is less picky in terms of fuel quality. Running a modern, emissions-compliant diesel on ULSD with SCR, DPF and EGR really isn't a problem in North America or western Europe. The fuel...

Talk me out of the TRD Pro

The demand for true BOF, SUV's and trucks doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon. F-150's sell like hotcakes. The Jeep Wrangler and Toyota 4runner have had strong sales as the last true BOF, mid-sized SUV's. Tacoma's sales have stayed strong and the Colorado/Canyon sales have been...
