    System Design Help

Voltage calibration accounts for scenarios where the controller consistently reads low or high. Example: Vbatt + 0.2v across the board. The MSB manuall alludes to this: "If you have accurate device and need to calibrate the battery voltage, then calibrate it by D06" Current-induced voltage...

    System Design Help

Heads up if you plan to shovel Monster Current into the 300Ah LFP bank from the alternator: the dual alt setup appears to rely on the primary alt until it is saturated, then adds capacity from the secondary. At normal charge rates the dual-alt setup should be quite happy. Depending on how...

How to trickle charge starter battery from house battery set up?

dual-sensing VSR combo DC-DC with starter battery maintenance. To wit: Ctek, Renogy, SRNE, Rich Solar, Sterling BBS1230 Pro Batt Ultra. I'll believe the latter when I see it because Sterling docs have claimed that feature when it was not yet implemented in the device. If the use case allows...

Understanding Battery separators versus battery isolators, for charging via a car alternator.

Typically C/3 until the alternator's voltage or controller setpoint is reached. After that the battery takes less and less current until it bottoms out (or you run out of gas). More time than most folks are willing to drive/idle on a daily basis. Correctly charging (proper absorption and...

Understanding Battery separators versus battery isolators, for charging via a car alternator.

A user with no higher-voltage charging source (solar, shore, or suitable alternator) to reach battery mfg charging setpoint recommendations might get benefit from a DC-DC charger. As for me, I use a regular VSR since solar handles absorption/float duties. I have no dog in this fight. Rather...

Pics of your VAN! Post up!

between Logan UT and the Idaho border. 90% of the build was was scrap, recycled, used. Was going for functional and cheap to facilitate an early, low-cost retirement and neither the van nor I will be winning any local beauty contests. Muffin (asleep in the sun) came from the used dog lot...

    Dual Battery Gremlins

The battery will only take ("accept") what it wants, so having too much current for it is not an issue. Sounds like two batts and the isolator have all failed, right? Maybe excessive heat or vibration? AGM like the bosch are typically tolerant of vibration because of their internal construction.

    $40 BaoFeng UV-5R Dual-Band Handhelds

potentential issue: the cable that ships with the radio has/ had a knockoff (Prolific? ) chip in it. This can cause problems for windoze folk as the OS uses a driver that checks for fakes. The solution is to provide a driver manually. Details in the chirp faq. from tapatalk (Galaxy Note 2)

    power film charging

Apple devices are notoriously picky about charging sources.* This might explain why the android would charge but not the iDevices. from tapatalk (Galaxy Note 2) *not saying this is a bad thing. Apple chargers are supposed to be some of the best and most stable out there. This is probably...

    Small Fuel Resistant Container?

As an experiment I stored a cup various liquid fuels (methanol, isopropyl 70/90, coleman fuel, unleaded) in separate pop bottles. After 6 months there was no deterioration, weakness, discoloration, or any other evidence they were holding volatiles. from tapatalk (Galaxy Note 2)

    Small Fuel Resistant Container?

Maybe integrate this into an existing "grab pole" used to drag faraway objects into reach. I use a pole like this so I can push/push stuff in the camper shell so I don't have to hop up/down into the bed over and over. from tapatalk (Galaxy Note 2)
