    Our Round-the-World adventure

Hungary Hungary was another architectural feast. Similar to the Czech Republic, we found the architecture and urban settings to be fascinating, beautiful and haunting with their history. But Hungary also was not a country that highlights the best features of living in a camper truck. Wild...

    Our Round-the-World adventure

Poland One week driving route through Poland Poland, for us, was the right blend of natural beauty, easy wild camping and beautiful architectural cities. We loved both Kraków, and Wrocław with their iconic old city centers. We had visited Warsaw on a quick pass through Poland last year so did...

    Our Round-the-World adventure

Thank you (and everyone else) for liking enough to respond. Doing these posts is a challenge, both technology-wise and to just find Wi-Fi and knowing that people are interested inspires me. We are enjoying ourselve and like to spread the word that long-term travel is easier to do than you think.

    Our Round-the-World adventure

Thank you for the advice! Yes, we did find out about a vignette, something that’s unheard of in the US. Last year we drove through Hungary and never realized we needed one, but luckily made it without a problem. We’ve found that most countries use license plate scanners for vignette...

    Our Round-the-World adventure

Czech Republic The Czech Republic was an architectural smorgasbord. Towns and buildings were picturesque, full of character and history. We spent our time wandering the streets of some of the most iconic cities and villages. It was a country we loved exploring but not one that highlights the...

    Our Round-the-World adventure

Northern France After a spectacular four weeks in Iceland, we returned to continental Europe, mapping a somewhat chaotic zig zagging path from west to east and back, gradually working our way south (forever chasing the sun). As always, our route combined a heightened awareness of time when we...

    Our Round-the-World adventure

Iceland - Part I - Reykjavik, Southern and Eastern coasts We debated whether or not to spend the money to ship our own vehicle to Iceland. In the end, we decided it was worth the significant investment for access to the less travelled F roads. With a month in the country, it the savings on...

    Our Round-the-World adventure

England - part II The Lake District was up next on our itinerary and in retrospect we wished we had spent more time there. The Honister Pass drive was extraordinary and rugged - reminding us of the Scottish Highlands. Honister Pass Lake District - Malham Cove hike - 5 mile loop walking loop...

    Our Round-the-World adventure

England - Part I We debated back and forth whether or not to do an England blog (Andy, yes!, Dawn no!). We have popped in and out of the country over several months, visiting English family, completing extended trips in other UK countries and Ireland, and using it as a base to fly back and...

    Our Round-the-World adventure

Thanks for following along! That’s a great question. In my two months of driving around the British Isles and six months driving around the European continent. I’ve driven many, many narrow roads where having the narrower Tacoma vs US full-size trucks was very nice. That being said, the short...

    Auto liability insurance for europe

We ended up just buying liability insurance from Tour Insure for about $130 a month. Full coverage was too expensive for us, I think it was about $900 for our truck. Yours would depend on how much it is worth. It was easy and quick. Good luck!

    Our Round-the-World adventure

Scotland - part one Scotland was a feast for the eyes and its vast landscapes filled our souls. It was a country both familiar and wild. Dawn’s mom was Scottish and there was a sense of coming home as we visited the places we heard her mom speak of over the years and re-visited some places we...
