What are the BEST pop-up campers???

This pop up doesn't meet the OP's criteria for 4 people but for 2 it's something to consider. I'm getting ours in a few weeks. I fully expect to have some problems with it but that's OK. I'm looking forward to modifying it.

Is there something between a teardrop and a regular caravan?

Just revisiting this thread because I'm about to take delivery of a Clipper Express 9.0TD. It's a "light duty" tear drop with a pop up lid that will allow me to stand up inside. It's definitely NOT off road ready … but it will be fun to make that way. I bought it in large part because I...

Hardware to hold up outside table

I use a ladder/platform for accessing the roof rack and attach a bamboo table top when I want it for that purpose.

1990 Comanche Build - The Wilderbeest

02rangeredge - Once you have one they find you! I parked my MJ in the old cars corral at a big auto flea market near here. A guy parked next to me in a nice old Dodge pick. He got out and told me he had one for sale. That was the barn car. A few months later I had 2 MJ's in my driveway...

1990 Comanche Build - The Wilderbeest

agamble - I drive mine a lot too and it's great! No doubt you've noticed the dumb things people do to get a look at yours. I had a guy drive full tilt across a Home Depot lot right at me. He slowed down swerved then yelled out the window ... "nice truck" (idiot). You're right about the...

1990 Comanche Build - The Wilderbeest

02 rangeredge - I agree ... 80's tastic - (y) . The first thing I noticed on the barn car was the sport bar and that was from about 50 yards away. I removed it, blasted some minor rust, repainted it and put it on my good MJ. It came with all of the proper brackets and a set of driving...

1990 Comanche Build - The Wilderbeest

Great thread! I really like the work your doing and that Wildernest top is neat to see. I'll be following this thread for sure. (y) Comanche's are fun to drive and attract a lot of attention. You don't "see yourself" driving down the road very often. Here's my MJ next to my XJ ... I...

    Casita Offroad Conversion

It's good to see other fibreglass trailers being converted for off road use. I'm currently working on a '86 Cadet. The plan is to put a stronger chassis under it and enlarge the wheel wells to accept larger wheels and tires. The kitchen had been removed before I got and that's good as I...

    One-burner propane stove?

mep1811 - Totally agree with your comments on the Coleman single burner stove (… not familiar with Partner stoves). I've had a Coleman single burner stove for years. I'm in charge of it while my wife handles the 2 burner. lol

Is there something between a teardrop and a regular caravan?

Dozer Dan - I was kind of looking for something to address that "gap" too. As I'm just finishing my expedition trailer build ( https://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/pco6s-trailer-build.148123/ ) I figured I'd start a teardrop build. I made all kinds of notes and scribblings and even...

    Let's see your LJ's!

I have an '04 which is fairly stock other than a 2" lift and 265/75/16 tires. It has a stock front bumper that I cut down 8" and added a Warn winch to along with a Warrior hoop that I modified. It's had a few looks in the last couple of years.

    No key!!!!

I haven't checked in on this thread for quite a while. The seller called me to say that after turning his house upside down he found the ignition key (a duplicate). I was able to turn the steering wheel and I got the Jeep home safely. When I picked it up I lifted the driver's side floor mat...

Better late than never 2005 LJ build.

I have an LJ with a 2" lift and 265/75R/16 Goodyear Duratracs on MOAB wheels. It's been great as a year round daily driver / trailer hauler and decent off roader. I also installed MORyde tailgate hinges and they handle the larger spare just fine. I can't help you with cargo area storage...

    No key!!!!

"In for info". I'm about to buy a parts car (Jeep Comanche) and the vendor hasn't been able to find the key, so far. We'll get it out of there some how but being able to steer would be a big help!

    Pictures of Camp Kitchens

Thanks Brian. It's basically 2 sheets of 1/8" aluminum hinged together. A small chain holds them together and provides for a bit of adjustment. I welded 2 brackets that bolt on to one of the vertical aluminum sheet. I just hang the table on over the tailgate when I need it. The...

    PCO6's Trailer Build

I finished the interior side of the tailgate yesterday. I started by lining most of it with 1” of plywood primarily to give it some weight and to provide a solid base for mounting items to it. I used PEX tubing as a conduit for the licence plate light wiring. I ran a few extra wires in it...

    PCO6's Trailer Build

I’ve made some progress on the “power box” (for lack of a better term). It actually serves a couple of purposes. I have about 16” of space tongue space in front of it so there’s plenty of room to strap down a cooler or something else on a temporary basis. I started by attaching a bracket...

    PCO6's Trailer Build

I finished off the kitchen table a few days ago. I started with 3 of these common small aluminum camp tables. I cut them up and reassembled them with some aluminum channel underneath as one 23” x 60” table. This thing is ridged and weighs next to nothing. It also stores straight up and down on...
