After two years of planning and 11 months of full-time truck living in the US and Baja, my wife and I shipped our highly modified Toyota Tacoma to Europe to begin what will hopefully be a five year drive around the world going through roughly 100 countries.
Our truck at Kinderdijk, Netherlands...
We are traveling with our original title as it was a US customs requirement in order to ship it to Europe. Copies would not have worked. It is kept in a hidden, locked box bolted through the floor
Thank you all. We went with Tourinsure.de as they were a bit cheaper than Alessie. Here’s Alessie’s rates for anyone who’s interested:
“Premium indication for drivers/riders over 25 years of age for Third Party Liability insurance:
The first month Euro 259 and each consecutive month Euro 105...
No I appreciate any advice, thanks! We’ve been in communication with Clements but didn’t know about they have such mixed reviews. Checking out Geico International as well.
Hi
My wife and I have been living and traveling the US in our Toyota Tacoma with a Four Wheel Camper Fleet for the past 10 months waiting for the world travel to open. We are shipping our vehicle to the UK and are looking for recommendations for an auto insurance company for the UK and the EU...
After over a year old planning and building, my wife and I sold our house and have been living in our truck for the past six months secluding ourselves in the wilds of the Western US.
Hopefully the world will start to open enough to allow us to ship our truck to Europe this summer where we'll...
I would also add that I chose a Tacoma because It came with a manual tranny, yeah I’m old school and like the control. Also it was important to buy a truck that has not had a major recent overhaul. I’d rather have one that’s a little behind the times rather than one that’s on the bleeding edge
I chose a Tacoma instead of a full-size PU to take my wife and I around the world starting this May. It was due to its worldwide dealer Network even if they have no direct experience with Tacoma’s, reputation for reliability, and it’s track which matches other mid-size trucks and vehicles found...
you have a nice looking truck. Yes, it is easy to get overweight quickly. We like the fleet flatbed it is the same configuration as the full-size hawk but just 4 inches narrower and 1/2” shorter in height. If we were sticking to North America we would be riding in a full-size 3/4 ton truck but...
sorry for the slow reply. We’ve purchased them and they’re waiting the seat brackets at Valley hybrids in Stockton, CA. Ward Harris of LRA Automotive is the supplier of the seats. We ordered the Vario F seats which we found to be super comfortable. Happy to give you an update once installed...
Ours has a total of 5,500 miles, 500 miles of which with the flatbed and four wheel camper. It weighs 6,900 pounds with a full tank of gas, otherwise empty. It is a highly modified 2019 Tacoma TRD sport. We have a Norweld aluminum flatbed, Four wheel camper fleet model, ARB front and rear...
Sorry but I don't recommend Mule Expedition Outfitters. Picked up my build from them recently and had serious issues right after i left the shop. Turn signals and back up camera didn't work. Found out they had mis-wired the backup camera, fixed after 4 more hours of waiting. That night on...
My wife and I are finishing up the build of our 2019 tacoma. Next May we'll be heading off on a 100 country, 3 year, 150,000 mile around the world trip. If any ones interested I started a build thread on tacoma world at...
Hi everyone. I'm planning to take a highly modified Toyota Tacoma around the world with CBI aluminum winch bumper stock picture below. Our first continent will be roughly 6 months in Europe. My question is will Customs allow it in? It will be registered in the State of Oregon. I understand...
