Oil would be nice on Cedar. Cedar is softer, so might get beat up in spots without a strong top coat. It might smell less if you seal it w/ poly. Wood will expand/contract regardless, but the tongue and groove should help. Here's a cool cedar van interior build...
Here's that ambo. Cool looking box:
"Selling my 2002 Ford E450 ambulance. 7.3 power stroke turbo Diesel. Runs great and is in good condition. Normal wear and tear for 2002. 175k miles. Would work as a great work truck. Tons of storage inside and outside of the vehicle. AC and heat work great in...
Rockey PLEASE post a thread with some good pics! Will be a great base to start from. I was tempted to bid, but I'll have to settle for my 2wd minimod for the time being. You road tripping cross country? I was contemplating how long it would take to get me to OR. Would have to stop and some ski...
^^This guy finds a lot of cool stuff!^^ I like my Ambo but wish it had a little more headroom. And windows. The bus has more of those and is lighter. Build quality/construction is way different though. What about airport shuttles vs school bus? Less of those in 4wd? For me having more interior...
I've been watching a 1995 E350, 7.3PSD 4x4 ambulance inch up past 10k on Govdeals. Stout rig for sure, and will likely go higher. One of these buses that's ~15 years newer & half the age for 11k w/ 1k in new tires seems pretty good.
What part of the country have the buses been used?
I grew up in upstate NY, and I HATE rust. I'd be hesitant to touch anything like that, but I say that living out here on the west coast. So, if they've only got ~6-7 winters on them, they might not be totally bad. And you might not have to do...
Go for it! The school bus body offers some nice room for a ski RV setup. Plus it's easy to setup a wood stove in there.

I have the same Vanair vent in my ambo. I chose this particular fan since my ambo has two, 6" circular openings in the top, and the Vanair vent dropped right in. I was short on time before a road trip...
It works ok for air exchange, but doesn't make a breeze. I think I'll be swapping it out...
This looks good, any reason to worry on mileage?

re: door seals, I wonder if there's a decent (cheaper) aftermarket solution? On my old land cruiser, it's only got the one layer seals. Later models had the seals on the door and on the body. Someone figured out a good, universal door seal that would work as a 2nd seal on the older rigs. The...
Nice work on the seals, I've been thinking about redoing the front doors on my '97 ambo.
Any idea why the driver's side front door seals cost TWICE as much as the passenger side door seals?!
I'm thinking 10k? The SRW minimod is a bit more desirable for off roading. I'm tempted to bid on it, but maybe I should just convert the one I already have? Probably cost more $$...
Ok, now I'm jealous! 4WD Ambo camping trip at Baker?! I'm afraid to take my 2wd ambo up in the snow... Maybe for some spring riding on Hood. That Baker road is treacherous with snow on it!
Have you seen this cool art by Adam Haynes? He does a lot of cool art for all sorts of beer/ski/outdoor...
Oooh... that's a good one. 4wd MINIMOD! I dig mine, but it's just 2wd...
Minimod has a narrower box/module, and has single rear wheels.
I guess Kentucky uses less salt on their roads than Ohio or similar, so hopefully it's in pretty good shape underneath.
Just sold for over 9k. Cool looking flatbed with storage boxes. Probably would fit a slide in camper pretty well.
They're out there...
