Tired of Old Junk but no Interest in Newer 4x4s

I could not agree more. I lusted after 30 yr old vehicles for decades but never bought one b/c I knew it would be expensive. Its not just the parts, but its your time, the time without the vehicle. My first truck was an old F100 farm rig, I bought from my uncle for $1000. It broke down all the...

Tired of Old Junk but no Interest in Newer 4x4s

some of this might have been mentioned already in this thread. I have skimmed through , so sorry if it is redundant, Hopefully not. I agree with the OP. I love my 1987 Toyota pickup. It is kind of a pain. I have only found 1 mechanic who will work on it that I trust. I end up doing alot of the...

    1987 toyota pickup

BAD NEWS for this thread, it's going away. As luck would have it my neighbor told me he was going to sell his 1st gen taco 4x4 with the rear locker. He bought it brand new in 2004 and it has been meticulously maintained. He is 30 yrs ex-military. It has 137K. I asked him how much, he was...

    1987 toyota pickup

I was thinking about switching to 4.88. I am going to stick with the 31's so figured it was not necessary. I am going to add AC . When I do that I was going to switch the radiator. I am going to redo the ball joints, tie rod ends, u joints, idler arms cv's as well when I do the suspension.

Since I could not sell the truck, I am reviving this thread and getting to work. I am going to get the suspension, bumper, and winch on sooner than later. In the meantime: Picked up an SR5 Instrument cluster and some steelies. I Can't decide if I should powder the coat the steelies or cheap...

I have been wondering about those shelves. When you have the At Atlas top-down, could you sleep back there in a pinch or for a quick stealth camp.?

Thank you for the detailed comparison. I love my FWC hawk and have looked at the Project M as a possible alternative. The reviews have been so -so on the Project M, so that lead me to the At Overland Atlas. So far the Atlas is winning the battle. I also really enjoy the heater that is in...

I am looking for first-hand pros and cons of the AT Overland Atlas. I currently have an FWC Hawk. I really enjoy it. I would like to have use of my truck bed. I was thinking of simplifying my setup to an atlas. I could do a quick modular kitchen build-out that is easy to tie down and remove...
