JK: running both the ARB and Genright at the same time

I went from the stock 19 gallon tank on my LJ to the Genrite 31.5 gallon tank and don't regret it one bit. Is the Genrite heavier, yes, by a lot even before you add the fuel. The skidplate/mount for the Genrite is 3/16" thick steel and covers all but the top of the tank. The tank is also...

Passing cables from tongue box into trailer when there is a small gap present

With three of those fittings you can take two of the nuts off, turn one of them around and use the last one to clamp to the second box. Basically start off as you described except install the fitting as originally intended, then install a second nut backwards facing the second box, once the...

    Warn VR12 or ZEON 12?

I have the VR12000 on my Jeep and it's a great winch. It is the old M series winch with a cheaper solenoid pack, literally the only difference between the two. And it's not that the solenoids are crap by any means, they just aren't made for as heavy duty cycle as the M12000 winch. I know I...

Barn Door for JK factory hardtops

Jeff, I understand this is only for the JK but you have me thinking of something similar for my LJ. The way the Safari Top goes together makes for some mounting options. Not looking to put anything very heavy up there, jackets, bags of clothes or maybe a ground blind (wildlife photography)...

Is Diesel Being Villainized In AUS and NZ Like In The Rest Of The World?

California doesn't "ask" auto makers to do anything, they simply demand it and expect that they will get their way. California does this with most everything else as well all while thinking that if it's what they want then it must be right and that the rest of the US wants it as well. That...

    New Jeep!

That would be why I used the word "should". I am well aware that tags go missing all the time and build sheets get lost. Also you build sheet showing an initial ratio of 3.21 would be where all of that model/powertrain start and then it shows a change because whoever ordered it ticked the box...

    LJ for Overland

This is the Jeep I will never sell. Always wanted a Scrambler but hated the rear overhang and would have needed to correct that, well Jeep did that for me with the LJ. I love the room inside especially since I don't need to run the rear seat. The Gr8Tops Safari Top is hands down best looking...

How would you outfit this custom LJ?

It's probably a combination of the headliner and the distance. Mine is very close to the roof and the wind drums the top and howls around the bars. I plan on adding a 1/4 inch piece of plywood sealed with CPES and coated with deck epoxy to use as a photography platform. I'm hoping that will...

How would you outfit this custom LJ?

Thanks, now if I can just talk you into a CJ grill conversion kit........ I need to make a faring for my rack as it creates a bit of wind noise above 60 mph, but since I don't drive that fast all that often I have some time on that.

    Balance your trailer tires

Lets see, the tires on the trailer spin as fast as the vehicle pulling it but they don't need to be balanced? What an idiot. Any assembly that spins at a fair amount of sped needs to be balanced. Ever see a trailer tire with a scalloped pattern across the tread face? That's from imbalance...

    Expo Trailer Electrical System Question

I've seen, used and repaired tractor trailers with lift gates mounted on them and not one ever had anything other than a 12 volt source running from the front of the truck to the rear trailer mounted battery/batteries. Again there is no reason to convert 12vdc to 120vac only to convert back to...

    Expo Trailer Electrical System Question

Charging the battery at home can be handled by any of the available charger/maintainers but why would you want to use the inverter to charge the trailer batter when towing? There is no reason to go from 12vdc to 120vac only to convert it back to 12vdc at the other end. A 7 pin trailer...

    truck cap wind fairing

The problem results from the fact that the cab is mounted on rubber bushings and the bed is hard mounted to the frame. You need to allow room for the cab to move around by increasing the distance between either the cab roof or the truck cap roof depending upon which one it is mounted to. If...

Barn Door for JK factory hardtops

Out of curiosity Jeff, what are the dimensions on the tank? It might fit behind some after-market bumpers between the bumper and rear frame cross member. If so two of those tanks would provide a good supply of stored air in a place that is otherwise wasted.
