Just saw a banner ad for adventure pants. ? I have wheeled and rock crawled a ton. I don't understand the desire to take a camper off of a dirt road. I could see some limited 2 track to get to a camp site or beach but trails or rough terrain just doesn't seem worth it.
That makes some sense structurally. I'm not sure it applies to this particular camper but a box with a couple super singles mounted on the back might need as much extra strength as it can get.
 Definitely for looks. A stylish way to match a longer camper to a shorter bed and not have it look like it's hanging off the back. Tight jeans, baggy jeans, mom jeans, jorts. IMO most of the overland craze being vehicle centric is fashion oriented.
I bet you could add a pickup to the main tank if you wanted. Many moons ago I put a webasto in My 7.3 E350. The kit came with a draw tube that could be installed in the sending unit cover plate. The installation involved lowering the tank, removing the sending unit and drilling a hole through...
The word of a salesman aside, you're playing in the reality of physics and material strength and right now your finding the limits. If FWC specs a light duty turn buckle and it doesn't ever break on their test vehicles, they are either rolling slower or the truck system they are using is...
Those are sweet looking setups.
Add the cost of a flat bed and sales tax in Washington where I live and it is pushing $100k. Add the cost of a truck and its a similar price to a built out sprinter 4x4. I wonder how the sales of these will compare with those?
It kind of falls under a similar question of why build a drag car out of a Honda civic? It's just what they are excited about and if there are enough people to buy them... To each their own. The interior came out super sweet.
Things have shifted and I am moving on to a different project so this one is for sale.

Sounds like you are talking about routing out a channel in the floor. Since that is a new camper, my approach would be to contact scout about feasibility and make sure it didn't affect the warranty. They could also tell you how thick the floor is. Maybe the flanged type would work better.
Other...
I'm going to add a little more to the question here and in the original post. Please include if your camper has a built in wet bath or if it is some type of curtain around a drain pan.
Of all the small RV's I've had, I always preferred the out door shower. Especially when putting on a cold wet clammy wetsuit, I'd run the hot water down the neck for a few minutes before going out. They have all had wet baths. I haven't tried a doorway / aisleway drain pan and curtain.
