Composting Toilet — Report on 8 months full time usage

5 years with a Natures Head, used by one male and one female adult. Urine separation works fine for both sets of parts. Highly recommended.

    1120 AF Build in Norway

100% agree with Sitec on the step well. We have a two step well inside the truck. We can get in and out (with a little effort) without deploying the steps. These little conveniences are huge when you live full time in the truck.

    1120 AF Build in Norway

You are going to curse that u shaped dinette with the table so lose to the cabinetry. You will either have to swing the table every time you get in or out of that side or you will have to slide around the dinette from the other side. After living with our truck full time for 5 years I would not...

    Power System for Winter Use

What does key position have to do with it. The Stirling B2B will not start drawing current until it detects sufficient voltage for a sufficient time at the starter battery . I would assume that is how all B2Bs work?

Cab to cabin access? Bathroom? For heat I highly recommend a coolant heater and radiators plumbed in to the engine coolant loop. Webasto ThermoTop C or Esparcher equivalent. You can put heating loops in the floor, way more efficient than electric for heat.

New ambulance build - electrical system design

Is your diesel heater a coolant heater? If so plumb it into the engine coolant loop. You can then heat the back from the engine when on the move and pre heat the engine for cold starts.

Jon, call Rob at Terry Lee (Colorado). He might have the parts in stock or be able to pull them off a spare engine.

Pull them off and head to a hydraulic shop. You should be able to get them fabricated. I have had hydraulic lines fabbed for our 917, as long as you have the part in hand they can measure threads etc and match it up.

    Water system ideas

    1. Forget the compressed air, it's a non-starter. 2. Use the heated coolant to supply a couple of radiators, definitely a heated towel bar in the bathroom. Plumb the coolant lines into a hot water tank such as the Webasto...

    Water system ideas

There are many good 12 V pressure pumps (Sure Flo, for example) in many available GPM flow rates. The pressure tank you are talking about does not pressurize the system as such. It is just a tank with a bladder that is pressurised by the water pump, not by an air compressor. The air tank evens...

Whats the best compact washing machine for fulltime RV living?

We use a Bosch apartment size washing machine. Has been great although the pump now needs replacing. Uses minimal power as long as you use the cold cycle to stop the heating element from turning on. If we want a hot water wash, we run the cold cycle but feed in hot water. 230 volt euro model...

    Lets talk heaters

We run a diesel Webasto. Runs fine up to 4500m no issues, after that it gets a bit temperamental.

    Are 9 batteries too many?

Sounds like a badly made setup. The owner "needed" more power so he added more batteries. The fact that he made two banks and only has 300 watts of solar pretty much guarantees the batteries never fully charge. Your plan is spot on, get down to one bank of 4 gc. Get the solar hooked to the...

    Lowly the Lorry. . .

Those are some ugly springs! Fire trucks get driven hard and put away wet. There is plenty of room for rear air bags between the reay parbolics and the frame.

    Lets talk heaters

I would avoid propane for the Pan Am. It is not always easy to find and when you do it is often Butane. Butane works great as a fuel at lower elevations, but it will not work in the cold at altitude. You will always find gasoline.

New trailer - understand battery system

Treat 2-6 volt GC batteries a one 12V battery. Charge them and discharge together ( do the same for 2-12V in a 24V bank). Batteries in series should be the same size and age, assume yours are. Use a 12V charger connected to the two terminals with cables leaving the batteries, not the short...
