One pot meals. -Cooking off of the bike

They have more on route. I'm sure very soon they'll offer breakfast and maybe even desserts. The flavor is head and shoulders above anything else out there.

One pot meals. -Cooking off of the bike

I'm a Good to Go convert. Read the bio of the founders. One of the most celebrated chefs in the US discovered backpacking and boom....dehydrated foods that are actually wonderful to eat are now available. http://goodto-go.com

Do you feel the need to have a weapon when camping

Simple explanation. Bear spray works...on bears...because they have an olfactory system that is hundreds of times more sensitive than that of the pit bull you sprayed. Simple as that.

FS: MSR Dragonfly Stove with a huge maintenance kit

Not gonna lie, this stove has been well used. But, it has a new pump, freshly jetted, cleaned, and has a maintenance kit with enough parts to rebuild the stove at least three or four more times. It could carry on for another couple of decades. With the bottle 22 ounce, this system sells for...

FS: Jetboil Guide Cook System, like new condition

Time to get my spring cleaning in motion. I have a very lightly used JetBoil Guide Cook system I need to liberate from my closet. I think I only used it on two trips. It looks pretty much new. The only bummer is the clear windscreen which broke nearly instantly and proved unnecessary anyway...

    Miyata 1000 touring bike

I have collected vintage bikes for years. The value of even the most rare and pristine bikes, is sadly very low. I even have a team issue Bianchi road bike that was raced in the 85 pro world championships and it's likely only worth a few hundred bucks. It's priceless to me. I also sold my '79...

    Black Sheep on Home Page

I'm in the Fort all the time. Was there for five weeks in October/Nov. My sister and dad live in FC and since I went to college there, have loads of pals in the area still.

Surly Ogre, Salsa Fargo... Input requested

Monkey, I put a Rock Shox Sid XX World Cup fork on my Fargo Ti. Not gonna lie, I was heartbroken to lean that beautiful Fargo carbon fork up against the wall of a closet, but I sure do like the boing of the sus fork. Especially such a high-end fork. It makes the technical downhills doable. Not...

    Bike Frame design

My welding skills were adequate as a builder. My ability to design a cool frame was fine. What I lacked was the patience to build. I just didn't enjoy the process as much as I did the end result. It's why jigsaw puzzles make me nuts, too.

    Bike Frame design

Dave, I was somewhat speaking to his ability to understand structural concepts and mostly to his meticulous nature with regard to measurements, diameters, yada, yada. He was actually a very solid welder after a short bit of practice. I spent a few hours with James at Black Sheep in his shop...

    Bike Frame design

By the way, I sold my frame building tools to a structural engineer who built pedestrian bridges all over the world. His first five frames are now wall art because they were so poorly aligned or didn't fit him worth a dam.

    Bike Frame design

Ya Dean, I think you may regret trying to dive into frame building cold. As said above, the tool investment alone is often the single deal breaker for many would-be builders. You can fabricate your own jig easy enough, although you usually get out of it what you put into it, so the building of...

    ProFlex problems

Hmmm....I feel that sensation every spring. :) Provided everything is properly adjusted, there's no mechanical reason why it would be slow. Even poorly maintained bearings add just a few meager watts of drag. I agree with Todd. Check your seat height. Not using 100% of your leg potential would...

    Bike Frame design

I started my frame building apprenticeship in 1991 with Mark Nobilette and then went on to build quite a few frames for myself and other builders. I was also an instructor at Barnett's bike institute for a while. My advice...take the class. Of the bike building craft, welding and brazing are but...

Surly Ogre, Salsa Fargo... Input requested

This is an incorrect statement. This coming from a frame builder with more than 20 years at the jig. Wheelbase is indeed very important, but it plays no part in speed. Speed is the product of watts vs. drag. Drag can be applied via aerodynamic forces which are compounded with speed, or by...

The ExPo Mountain Bike Photo Thread

Awesome images, Andrew. I will coax this route out of you. Might require a lot of whiskey, but I'll do it.

Surly Ogre, Salsa Fargo... Input requested

Eric, there's no way to really apply any specific digits to your question. Needless to say, a bike with 2.2 mountain bike tires will invariably be slower than a bike with 28c tires, but that also depends on the terrain. The rougher the terrain, the better the advantage for the bigger tire.

Renegade concept at Detroit Auto Show

Having driven the Renegade for a couple days including a few hours off-road at the press launch, I have to say I really like it. Not sure I'd own one, but then again if it fit my needs I would. It did quite well off-road, certainly better than anything else in its class, and by a fair stretch.
