The black and white thread (film or digital)

It’s amazing how curvaceous they could make body panels back in the day. Love the look without bumpers too!

ManNu, where is that! Sweet photo. I somehow clicked the thumbnail in the email I got, and it opened your photo in glorious 27" full screen.

    Gear comparison video (Wheeling!)

Lets not discount the effects and benefits of taking off your swaybars in those kind of scenarios. You have WAY more articulation in the rear end than my rig ever had. Kinda not impressed with the spotting in the second video, but I am impressed with your power steering. Is it boosted over stock?

Test run after seals and timing belt change

No I highly doubt you could bend anything by hand. You are supposed to rotate the engine a few times by hand when checking the timing.

    WTB RTT - Texas/NM - CLOSED!

Yeah, sorry. My daughter is getting recruited by Western A&M and Texas Tech, and we've flirted with the idea of moving out of CA into Texas, and man, West Texas is pretty empty. I did hear a funny joke about Lubbock though. "Sure, its flat, but if your dog runs away, you can still him 4 days...

Test run after seals and timing belt change

How would you even do that? Run it without the accessory plate and related pulleys and things on it? Any way, my suggestion would be NO. this is an interference engine, meaning, the piston will kiss the valves if the timing is off. It could end up looking like this

Diagnosing and Fixing a 2002 Montero 3.5L V6 SOHC that might be seized up

Well, I determined that getting the drivers side Cylinder head off would make it easier to access the tranny bell housing bolts, so I spent way, way too many hours trying to get that off. Finally did. The obstacle turned out to be pretty darn silly, I did not remove the bracket holding the...

    Sand Rover?

The LR3 is both way more nimble and a lot more powerful than a 100 series. You'll love it in the sand. To the poster who said they are underpowered, I can't fathom what he means when you have 300hp on tap, or 400hp with the LR4. Even the 240hp V6 was a blast in the sand. Just put it in Low...

    Logbook

I like that idea a lot. Some interesting spelling in your example though :-) There is a company called “Field Notes” that is quite popular, but mostly due to the quality and features of the paper they use. I’m not sure if they have a layout like the one you created, but you might wish to...

Diagnosing and Fixing a 2002 Montero 3.5L V6 SOHC that might be seized up

Ok, new (used) engine being shipped to my door. Means I have to pull this baby out this weekend. Do I disconnect the tranny from the engine while in car? I assume I need to drain the tranny? Any advice on how to reach all the bolts around the bell housing? I’m not certain of I need to...

    Sand Rover?

In low range, third gear, Sand Mode with DSC off the LR3 is amazing. You'll peg the rev limiter a lot, but its tons of fun. The V8 and the V6 have plenty of horsepower to keep things moving, despite the rig's overall weight. Most people miss understand what Sand Mode does. It retards the...

    Which one?

Correct. Most HSE's do not have it, and the HD is available in SE and HSE trim, though very, very rare in SE trim. Having driven both extensively, I will say the locker is not a deal breaker. The traction control is superb. There is a bit less drama and more ease in tackling various...

Looking for a good mechanic in Orange County

I had the timing belt and exhaust manifold done by Crady Automotive on my old Gen2. They are just north of the 91 near the 55 in Anahiem/Yorba Linda area. They are NOT Montero specialists, but fair. Another shop that has done me well over the years is the Swedish Asian. I think they changed...
