Building out is definitely not a requirement. I own an Ovrlnd and won't be doing much to it except electrical and possibly some 1" rigid foam insulation. I have bed tie downs and just strap everything down. I'm more of a "throw everything in the back" type person.
I like the full popup that...
I've had both DuraTracs and K02's and prefer the DuraTracs. The K02's weren't as good on snow and ice or wet pavement. They would release suddenly rather than gradually on wet pavement, leading to some "oh sh&*%t moments". Off road I don't see much of a difference, but I'm thinking the K02's...
The wait for an OVRLND is not as long now since they hired more workers and ramped up production. I put my deposit down on May 3rd and it was complete last week: total of 6 months.

1. Great daily driver. My wife drove it to Reno one day and got pulled over by a cop going down from Spooner Summit on highway 50 above Carson City. That's a very bendy road with a 50 mph speed limit. The cop said "I followed you for several miles...
This is great -- been watching all your videos because I'm interested in a similar set up some day.
I have owned several RV's over the years like you. There is no perfect solution out there, but with respect, the "heat after cooking" issue seems self-inflicted due to not having a stove vent...
I definitely get the attraction of the Luna machines, but they are a different beast than a class 1 e-bike which can be ridden legally on many more trails than a 3hp Luna.
E-bikes are evolving quickly and the newer e-mountain bikes are really impressive (but expensive). If you want to ride your bike on more challenging mountain bike trails, or plan to progress in that direction, I recommend going with a mainstream brand like Trek, $pecialized, Giant, Canyon...
Nash and Snow River are travel trailers so I guess you are looking at TT's as well? Escape trailers can be 4-season and were not mentioned. Definitely not available within your budget if you need a tow vehicle as well, but if you already have a 4wd, just about anything can tow a 17B. We have...
This is great info because I have one on order for my Colorado to pick up in February, and it's great to see what other people have done.
About the shell, you said it has 2" extra height to store bedding. Does that mean the cabover is 2" deeper? It looks like you also got an extra 2" cab...
My Chevy ZR2 Duramax is bone stock except for shock skids. I don't hesitate to follow my long-time overlanding friends wherever they go. Once I had to pull the plug and turn around in deep endless mud, but other than that the vehicle can hang. My point as others have said is to not go...
I took my nephew on an eMTB ride yesterday. This was his first mountain bike ride of any kind, ever. Did 24 miles with 3,500 footies in 2 1/2 hours, which is pretty amazing for the first time on dirt. Smiles all around. The extended family now have 3 eMTB's and different people cycle through...
Do you mean Scamp? There is also the Casita and high-end Oliver's and Bigfoots currently in production, and a bunch like the Burro that are still around but not in production. I saw a photo somewhere of an Oliver on the Shafer trail below the switchbacks which I thought was pretty sporty. The...
Escape 17B. We've had one since 2017 and this will likely be our last RV. I'll never buy another stick-built RV with any sort of roof with seams again after experiencing leaks in a 2-year old Arctic Fox truck camper we used to own that delaminated the siding.
We do light off-road with it but...
I get it MTVR, you don't like e-bikes. But posting nonsense on an E-bike forum is just trolling. There are plenty of other forums for that. I suggest Pinkbike or mtbr -- especially the trail building and advocacy forum on mtbr: https://forums.mtbr.com/trail-building-advocacy/.
We can debate...
What is a "serious cyclist" exactly? I am a member of several e-bike groups in Northern California that organize rides. Some of our members ride unassisted bikes competitively, and they are pretty serious. They ride e-bikes because it's more fun powering up hills and getting multiple laps...
FWIW, Car and Driver did a fuel economy test on the Silverado version of this engine and it got 10mpg less than the 2.8 Duramax in the Canyon (different vehicles though!). https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a25953794/chevrolet-silverado-four-cylinder-fuel-economy-test/. Was also worse than the...
The Bigfoot is the '94-95 M-15-C-6.11. It's a unicorn because they only made it for 2 years so any remaining ones would be at least 25 years old now. 1180 lbs dry weight, but I'm sure you probably already know that it's going to be heavy for a Tacoma.
MGSlynch, I was told by FWC (2 years ago at Expo West) that internal bed tie-downs won't work on my ZR2 5 ft bed because it's a diesel. To accommodate the DEF filler tube, there is an area of the truck bed that slopes in on the driver's side front, and the attachment point for the camper has no...
