In my eyes the biggest conclusion is that neither one of these trucks is worth anywhere close to the sticker price. Mid 40Ks for that kind of performance? Are you kidding me?
My stockers were toast at 25K miles. There was still plenty of life left in the pads, the rotors had just taken on a nice shimmy coming down mountain passes on the highway. I probably could have milked them for a while longer if I needed to.
I think the EBC yellowstuff pads + sport rotors + stainless lines are about as good as it gets for a Tacoma without swapping out brake components. StopTech offers a big brake kit (http://www.stoptech.com/products/big-brake-kits) but if I recall correctly its somewhere in the neighborhood of $2K...
I love the increased bite and stopping power. I can positively say that they saved me from rear ending someone on the highway when traffic panic stopped (of course I got rear ended, hence the Bruteforce rear bumper). Can't comment on life at the moment as I only have ~10K on the pads, but even...
Thanks and welcome! Looks like I have to go back and start fixing broken links. Big ole' middle finger to you Photobucket. I hope I still have them all.
That's the goal! Especially considering the Patriot X1 cost more than I paid for my truck (without mods of course)...
Glad I could help! I already tried to sell the wife on the idea of an offroad tear drop but with 3 dogs I'm not sure it's a good fit for us. Always a game of compromises!
Huh, those are pretty cool. Never seen them before. Right now I'm perusing the offerings from Colorado Trailers such as...
In preparation for this trip I needed to source a better solution for the fire extinguisher. Previously it has kind of gone wherever I could stuff it which isn't exactly conducive to deploying it in the event of a fire which is the whole purpose in the first place.
I used this...
At some point earlier in the thread I had referred to the wife and I purchasing a travel trailer in anticipation of spending several months on the road next year. I had an opportunity to take it out for a week and ~1,000 miles this past week all over CO. Verdict: I can't express how much I hated...
I just towed a 3,600 lb travel trailer with my 4.0L Tacoma for the past week over 1,000 miles. Qualifier, we traversed a half dozen 10,000+ foot mountain passes with sustained 7% grades for miles with 4 adults in the vehicle. Going uphill it only has enough grunt to pull 30 mph so if you want to...
Trying to convince the wife that moving to Canada would be a much better idea than going to Vermont. Too bad her parents are on the East Coast otherwise I think she might bite.
Thanks!
If you are referring to the picture of the trail with all the squiggles that's the beginning of the Shafer Trail in Arhces National Park. It's probably more recognizable as the typical start of the White Rim Trail. We went out on Potash Road instead of continuing on the White Rim trail...
Unconventional but cool! We have 3 dogs that travel with us and the hair to show it. Our short haired dog sheds a ton and his white hairs weave their way into all of the grey fabric on the seats. If I still had a back seat I'd do what you did, alas, I do not.
If you have an old Android phone or tablet to dedicate, it makes a wicked vehicle monitoring/code reader for the small price of $15 between Torque Pro and the bluetooth dongle. Although I have never had a Scangauge it makes sense to me that having a tablet with maps, service documents, music...
This winter I decided to tackle a makeover of my auxiliary electrical system. Why? Two reasons. One, I have 3 accessories that run off of relays. I didn't like having to find space in the engine bay to securely mount three relays and run all of the associated wiring to and from it for power...
After 5 years of living in CO our time here is growing shorter. Not because of a lack of desire persay (the Front Range has grown noticeably more crowded over that time period however), more because both of our families are back on the East Coast and there is always the desire to spend quality...
Due to the hail storm all of the body shops are booked well into the future. I have an estimate with a reputable shop scheduled for 6/19 and the guy was clear that they were booked out until November or December. That doesn't bother me so much as I didn't want to have 2-3 weeks of downtime...
