The portable generator is a great suggestion.
For 30 lbs and 1000 watts of AC you can run your;
block heater
or a battery blanket
or your battery charger
or a 750 watt ceramic AC heater
or if you are a hipster hunter :) , your coffee grinder.....
Also, IMO, reliable cold weather...
For me, it is almost always the 2.5 inch hitch receiver that drags and of course it is more acute if the ball mount is still attached. These factory receivers are pretty skoocum and I never get the sense that I am bending or breaking anything but I do make some pretty impressive furrows when...
My camper has been very good so far with LPG consumption. I think the wall/roof envelopes are usually well engineered and built with most of the composite shells available out there, giving good thermal performance. Of course, once a number of holes are cut into the the walls and roof, that...
Here are a couple of pics I took a week or so ago of the sign leading into the lovely small "north Island" village of Woss, also known as British Columbia's most carefully pronounced Logging town... If you happen to be there and meeting some of the huge locals in Woss who are packing a powersaw...
I know that many of us here on Expo who live in the sticks are totally used to seeing logging trucks plying the highways with loads on the way to a local mill. For me, it is almost a daily occurrence but one forgets just how big these off road monsters are in real life. On this recent trip, we...

I picked CPT because they are only five hours down the road from me, they have a proven industrial manufacturing background and they manufacture their panels and completed shells all in house. When I ordered my shell, they were just starting into the camper end of production so with CAD...
We built out a custom slide in camper shell last winter, our first new, "non-reno" build so in essence we had a clean sheet of paper to start with. It was delicious but also a bit daunting in a way as all of the design decisions we made up front, we would have to live with for a long time...

Thanks for the compliment. As far as your CPT build, I would suggest spending a few extra bucks and get a roof........
The key to the build is taking your time and enjoying the learning curve (in my case, it is always a cliff!)
In his great book "Build your own Overland Camper"...

I hate to miss answering a query and I did miss this one, sorry. A bit late replying but good point on redundancy. I did consider the system that you suggested, as well as all the other options out there with inbox tiedowns but I felt if the components were skookum enough with the...
It is a good question and I am no expert on 18 wheeler truck design but I would guess that the high exhaust stacks would keep the exhaust gases far enough away to not be a problem. I am guessing that there has been lots of engineering put into the exhaust design of these big rigs to cover off...
In another life, I worked as a death investigator and came across many individuals whose deaths were as a result of hypoxia caused by exposure to carbon monoxide (CO). The problem with CO and the much misunderstood realities of being exposed to it, is simply that it is not just a fresh air...
Thanks ITTOG. Looks like I am going to get overrun by winter so will have to stick with what I have for now. Indeed as you mentioned, I was looking at bent aluminum plate glued/screwed onto fiberglass backer which is glued to the Composite panel. Like yours, mine will go right across the...

I am about to redo the back door drip guard on my camper. I really like the look of the one you did on your pop up. Is it bent Aluminum? Screws? Sika? etc.... I would be interested in any info you would be willing to share. Thx NOPEC

Well that is high praise thanks. The true north it is every bit as amazing as you are imagining. You'll get there.
And by the way I forgot in my last post that I was going to apologized on behalf of all of us British North Americans for putting a bunch of holes in Ft. McHenry and...

I knew that history of the ships a bit. I do recall that tune, BTW.....
Nothing like 12 inches of re-enforced oak to take on ice, prior to steel or the more exotic hulls these days.
Two of the guys I did the King William Island quadding trip with are fellows of the Royal...
