    Big custom camper sightings

That must have been a scary few seconds. In almost that same spot we met an oncoming white-knuckled RV driver who was taking his half of the road from the middle. I was forced to grab some of that soft shoulder and I was pulling a trailer. I really do not know what prevented us from tipping over...

Pics of your favorite fly water

Between Escalante and Boulder. It's not a place you'd normally look for trout. I stumbled across the fishery years ago when Diana and I stopped to take the hike up to Calf Ck Falls (worth the hike just for that) and take a quick dip in the pool at the bottom of the falls. I noticed beaver dams...

If you could fish any river in CA this weekend, which would you choose?

I agree. A 7wt rod at minimum. I usually take an 8wt there and I've seen others with 10wts. There are some B-I-G browns in that river. Don't be afraid to use big tippets and leaders. When I drag a streamer through some of those deeper pools I've got 15-lb leader on. If I'm fishing dries (my...

    N. Fork Shoshone River WY

We were over on the N. Fork of the Shoshone River (between YNP East Entrance and Cody). Stone fly hatch going on. Great fishing! Allen R

If you could fish any river in CA this weekend, which would you choose?

I've always been partial to the Owens River below Pleasant Valley Resevoir, especially when runoffs are problematic. This time of year hoppers and mouserats under those cutbanks can lead to monumental tussles with browns. Have fun no matter where you choose. Allen R

    Dodge Key Question

Our Dakota came with only one remote key. I ran into the same problems in finding a reasonably-priced additional one. Found these guys Remotes and Keys dot Com. Remote was $29.00 plus $12.26 S/H. Had a 12-month warranty and there was absolutely no trouble following the instructions for...

Retired Old Lady Seeks Exploring Truck

You've been doing your homework, so you probably saw this Alaskan pop-up here on Expo. I'm not affiliated in any way with the seller, but his sale is tempting me to buy a full-size pickup again. :) Allen R

    Fly Fishing DC

I'm not sure how far you're willing to drive and what you consider "close to the city" but the upper Potomac river system has several trout streams. It's been a while since I wet a line in them but the Meadowhouse and Tuscarora creeks produced some nice trout for me. Hedgeville and Martinsburg...

Retired Old Lady Seeks Exploring Truck

No advice here. You have much to sift through above. Congratulations on your retirement and your upcoming travels. If you find yourself out here on the Snake River Plain, give us a shout. Accommodations for horses as well as hook-ups for your rig. We don't have hay-burners any more but did...

    1994 Hallmark Milner pop up

That's a great-looking camper. Good buy!! If you begin to have guilt pains you can always go back to the seller and give him the other hundred bucks. :) I don't think you'll be happy having the AC fridge as your only fridge. It will draw down your batteries quick time or you'll have to run a...

    Australia: The Long Way Downunda

Good choice of videos, especially the Truck Trains. Frequently here in the U.S. west we see triples, but SIX!!! Wowser! Another favorite Aussie vid of mine is BUSH MECHANICS. :rally_guys: Allen R

    Trailer vs Flip Pac/Truck Camper

Definitely in the "For-what-it's-worth" category: we've had both...and a couple of other off-highway sleeping solutions as well. We sold both the AT and the Flippac and have returned to the same tent we purchased in 1964 and loving it. (Well, truth be told, maybe Diana is not 'loving' it, but...

    My First Luger

Yep, I've read those stories about Horn's attempted escape. He supposedly failed owing to his unfamiliarity with the operation of the gun, but there is just as much evidence that the gun was a Bergmann-Bayard or perhaps an FN. In any event it's a good story. Some of those original product...

    My First Luger

Anyone here an owner of a Luger? I just acquired one through a little "horse trading" and I'm told that it won't be the last one. It's a 7.65mm, "Alphabet Commercial", ca. 1928, and is complete with holster and in addition to the original magazine has a couple of extra ones of later vintage...

How 'bout voles? I can offer the place and various caliber arms. In addition, if you want to move up the scale yellow-bellied marmots (aka rock chucks) abound. :sombrero: Allen R
