I found this at REI as well. It seems of similar quality to a partner stove without the extra premium. Yes its still expensive, but about $80 cheaper. It's also a 20,000 BTU stove while the partner stoves I've seen are only 10,000 btu...
If I'm car camping, I am not doing a one pot meal unless the recipe calls for it and the convenience of a 2 burner stove is paramount to me. I did have my eye on both those camp chefs mentioned though.
I'm fairly new to "overlanding", but not new to offroading or camping. Traditionally, I backpack. I would consider myself an Ultralight hiker with a base pack weight of 9.5lbs before food and water. I currently use an alcohol stove that weighs 3g so gourmet cooking is not really possible...
I wasn't referring to the bed. I was referring to the floor space. Hence my point on having a family or friends tag along.
I'm a neat freak, so having all the associated cookware in specifically designed spaces for a perfect fit is a big deal to me. Have you ever seen one in person? You'll...
Speaking of the stairs and the room that contained them, I was a little surprised at how narrow/small the room was. It certainly necessitates the need for the add on room if you are camping with a family or friends. I'd be curious to see how cots or air mats get laid out by people who have the...
I actually emailed Exped about having a custom mega duo made. They emailed me back saying they can't do custom mats but in March will be releasing a medium size duo that is 40x72. So 2 of them would be just about perfect for the sky camp. Sadly it will probably be a $400+ upgrade. AND, there is...
I'll have to measure, but I'm pretty sure it's only about 2.5". So not much room. The floor extension only cover about half of the main floor when folded though, so in order to fit a topper or bedding all you need to do is push everything towards the shell hinge side. You don't have room for...
See I have a thermarest neoair and find it extremely comfortable, but it is 3" thick and filled with air.
But this 1"pad BS really gets to me. Especially after spending 3k on this thing. I'll need to look online and see if I can order a custom foam mattress for it. May just go with a super...
FWIW, I used to work in the outdoor industry on the retail side of things. Companies RARELY if ever listen to consumers, let alone industry insiders. BUT, I spoke with CVT and they are working on a "very large" rotomold shell that could end up being larger than a James Baroud XXL. JB is also...

Zipper to awning does not lock or match up. Had to use a guy line to keep it zipped on.

How is that mattress? It's an odd design with those springs in it. Does it sleep well for side sleepers? Can you feel the coils?

For my 4 month old we just plop him right next to my wife. He sleeps in a Merlin's Magic Sleep Suit, its like a puffy jump suit, and we just make sure that his feet, head, and hands are covered. The suit makes it very difficult for the child to startle awake, roll over, or even crawl. It...
So I bit the bullet and did the KickStarter. I received the tent 2 weeks ago and mounted it last week.
First trip with it was to Overland Expo East. All in, it cost me $3000, that includes the annex, awning, and canopy. I opted for the medium ladder at 94" in length.
Here are my Positive...
I saw it as well. Was thoroughly impressed. Unfortunately, not being able to fit a 37" tire is a deal breaker for me. I will never tow a trailer again that doesn't have matching wheels and tires to the tow rig. When things go terribly wrong that alone can be a life saver.
