2020 Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) CAMP-X pop-up slide-in pickup camper (renamed "Back Country" as of 2023)

A fridge delete would make sense if one ever planned to do trips and not bring a fridge at all. Or were looking to locate the fridge inside the pickup. In either case, it would be a nice option. You'd have to determine if it's worth taking it in and out and consider that a top load fridge you...

2021 Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) CAMP-HBE pop-up flatbed pickup camper (renamed the "Hudson Bay" for 2023 model year)

The blue hose is a fitting directly to the drain hole. In the first image, note that the drain pan is hinged on the right side. The second image is with that drain pan hinged up to reveal how the blue drain hose is fitted directly to that drain pan drain hole. I added some color coded circles...

2020 Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) CAMP-X pop-up slide-in pickup camper (renamed "Back Country" as of 2023)

Hi Joe, I covered some of the changes between the 2019 and 2020 model (2020 is what I have). I have a hunch you may be asking the differences between the 2020 and the current campers (2021 and soon to be 2022). Off the top of my head, some things that changed between my model and the newer...

2020 Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) CAMP-X pop-up slide-in pickup camper (renamed "Back Country" as of 2023)

Great find and read. It was a good interview and fun opportunity for Mark and Arnold to dive into a bit more detail and background that isn't commonly shared in their shorter "youtube" and expo interviews. It's a shame Truck Camper Magazine incorrectly uses "Mike" in the opening paragraphs...

2020 Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) CAMP-X pop-up slide-in pickup camper (renamed "Back Country" as of 2023)

Off is my recommendation for several reasons. Some tailgates don't lay flat and so may be slightly tilted up and so would take a lot of the weight. And the tailgate makes it complicated to step out, in my opinion, because when stepping out the rear camper door to the same level, much more...

2021 Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) CAMP-HBE pop-up flatbed pickup camper (renamed the "Hudson Bay" for 2023 model year)

Hi mk216k, Sorry I missed seeing your post sooner. I saw it when I saw Ninelitetrip had posted and I hopped in to check the thread. I'm not sure I follow your question regarding the shower drain. The black shower pan drains via the blue hose shown in the picture. The shower pan hinges up to...

2020 Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) CAMP-X pop-up slide-in pickup camper (renamed "Back Country" as of 2023)

I'm only aware of one lightweight, offroad pickup camper that has underbed storage and that is the FWC flatbed (though there may be a few of the small startups that are doing it in some models, too). None of the FWC slide-in campers have it; only the flatbed models. You typically only see...

2020 Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) CAMP-X pop-up slide-in pickup camper (renamed "Back Country" as of 2023)

Crystalclear, More info on that window and install please! I think many pickup camper and trailer camper owners would be interested, so perhaps a new thread so owners of all brands can discuss. Looking forward to more details (and pics from inside).

Sg1 owns a prototype (but I was thinking it was 2018 he got it). Edit: Found his thread which confirms his CAMP-X install was June 2018. https://expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/first-trip-in-an-overland-explorer-camp-x.195608/

2020 Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) CAMP-X pop-up slide-in pickup camper (renamed "Back Country" as of 2023)

I did my firestone valves on my Tundra one on each side license plate. The gas flap location seemed slick when I first considered it, but ultimately it would have been much too awkward to both check the air pressure and add air. When mounting on both sides of the license plate, one tip I'll...

2020 Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) CAMP-X pop-up slide-in pickup camper (renamed "Back Country" as of 2023)

Great to hear. And, I appreciate you posting an update. Too often, in forums, we never get to hear the outcome (good or bad) and are left wondering.

2020 Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) CAMP-X pop-up slide-in pickup camper (renamed "Back Country" as of 2023)

Nice rig. PaulP, Keep in mind the FWC Raven is very short and made specifically for 5.5' bed rather than 6.5' bed like the FWC Hawk and the OEV CAMP-X. The Raven may give you a ballpark, but if you want to see how a 6.5' camper fits and rides in a short bed, seek out examples of those later two...

2020 Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) CAMP-X pop-up slide-in pickup camper (renamed "Back Country" as of 2023)

Load E tires and airbags will get you mostly there. Late model TRD Pro have the same max payload capacity as my 2013 Tundra 4.6. The primary difference is mine is a DC with 6.5' bed and your Pro is a Crew Cab, so your payload will be sitting 1' further back on the chassis. It's not ideal, but if...

2020 Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) CAMP-X pop-up slide-in pickup camper (renamed "Back Country" as of 2023)

We keep our clothes in a duffle bag just like any other traveling we do. Easiest to set where ever we need it to go through it. When popped up, throw the two bags up on the bed. When popped down and traveling, put them on the floor for low center of gravity (though, depending on the thickness of...

2020 Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) CAMP-X pop-up slide-in pickup camper (renamed "Back Country" as of 2023)

It was bugging me that I didn't include the specific Torx and Square bit sizes so I went out to confirm. I updated my post above, for completeness, but these are the sizes.... Square bit - Solar and rooftop cable holders, access portal rings, parts on the exterior door S1 S2 Torx bit - parts...

2020 Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) CAMP-X pop-up slide-in pickup camper (renamed "Back Country" as of 2023)

No specific tool kit, because there are only a handful of tools needed. Most of these you'll likely have in whatever tool kit you already carry in your pickup. All fasteners are, indeed, SAE rather than Metric. Tangent: This bugs me. Ha. Even though I'm in the U.S.A., everything I own and...

2020 Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) CAMP-X pop-up slide-in pickup camper (renamed "Back Country" as of 2023)

Good find and thanks for the followup. I believe OEV has different puck heights available, so they may be able to send you the appropriate height for your rig. My camper is pre-puck so my height adjustment is 100% horse mat.

2021 Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) CAMP-HBE pop-up flatbed pickup camper (renamed the "Hudson Bay" for 2023 model year)

Fun new 8' CAMP-HBE video. Warning: Don't get too excited for some of the items shown on this 8' CAMP-HBE (like side windows) as they will not be a CAMP-HBE option. This rig was based on a BASE-CAMP prototype and so has a few things you won't be able to get on a CAMP-HBE, but still fun to see.

2021 Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) CAMP-HBE pop-up flatbed pickup camper (renamed the "Hudson Bay" for 2023 model year)

I get a kick out of Chris's vids. Ha. That was a good find on his quick tour. That HBE was one of the very first off the line and there are already some refinements since then (storage/toilet closet is shorter and door opens different direction, etc.)

2021 Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) CAMP-HBE pop-up flatbed pickup camper (renamed the "Hudson Bay" for 2023 model year)

I've not been back up to check it out again, but it's unlikely they would mount any underbed storage until the flatbed gets mounted to a pickup anyway.
