I have been rocking an OR bivy with shoulder pole for years.
Three Layer goretex, over all pretty bullet proof. Has a dual door one layer is a bug net. so you can leave the front open but keep the bugs out. If the weather goes bad zip both layers shut good to go.
I have used it year round in...
High, but not that high.
As with any other toyota, it is worth what some one is willing to pay for it in terms of the toyota tax.
There have been a few of that vintage and roughly same number of miles that have gone up for sale here in the mountains near that price range.
If you really are...
The tundra with the 4.7 in it is damn good rig.
its a 300k motor, plenty of power, not awesome for towing but can handle small stuff just fine.
we had a fleet of these we beat in the desert at a place I used to work at. Chained up the rear and would take them some gnarly places year round...
Hi all, thanks for the response.
I just put my snow tires on the other day and while they are for sure the way to go I admit its a real pain to swap them twice a year. Not to mention the added expense.
This is my second winter on this set ( Hankook I pike r11) We shall have to see how well...
Any updates for those of you that are running this tire?
I have snagged a set of new hankook I pike winter tires last year when we sold out beater old 2ed gen yota 4 runner with a blown motor aka sold the truck got new tires bought a six pack and was happy.
However, this summer back on went...
At the end of the day, I am almost always more stoked to have a smaller truck off road.
Short, Light, and if all else fails I can do a 57 point turn in the middle of most trails to get out of there as needed.
Even better, I can get my regular cab taco and a small wood trailer down all of the...
Actually, I did not rotate in a spare. My truck is rather light and a lot of the use has been highway miles.
The truck just turned 92k miles on the clock. -5 k miles for the OEMs when I got it and another 5 k for the snow tires last winter place the DanaPro's at 82,000 miles.
Ten ply on a...
if you have not found it yet check out the second g section on the t4r.org forum
over all good group of folks with some good info
I got some good answers for my 95 with the 3.0 in it.
I finally sold mine with a hundred and 80 k on it with blown headgasket, screwy front end blown power...
I spend a lot of time working and playing all while using my truck as a base platform. It is also my DD so I keep it simple. My usual load out stays in the truck for most of the year.
1 cot with the end chopped off to fit the six foot tacoma bed. Under the cot I stash two large rubber tubs. up...
mine is not as new as you are asking about....
2012 2.7 4 banger 5 speed.
Is it going to pull off the line like a cummins?
no.
But I have no problem holding 85 all day long as the highways out west.
Will do highway speed no problem pulling a trailer up to the rated limit just expect to...
hot Damn.
I just read this entire thread from start to finish. Starting in 2008 to now.
Fantastic stuff. I think the best part is the time line. I do not know many folks that even keep their rigs for 8 years let alone plan and work towards the ultimate goal of the finished product for that...
Update.
I have put another 5 k miles on the tires or about 80k total.
They tires are near done at this point, most of this driving has been on highway since taking off my snow tire in the spring.
I would wager that about 3-500 miles of the last 5 k has been offroad. The tires still seem to...
Walk away....
We have had 2 of the second gen 4 runners in the family one my personal rig the other in the same household.
Awesome trucks when they work... but dont expect it to be hassle free. Also, good luck getting over 15MPG even with the 5 speed.
Even if the head gaskets have been...
Thanks, sorry for the fat thumbs.
Over all super pleased with the tires.
I think I will be looking for the same when it is time for these to go next spring when I take my studded tires off.
I am keeping my eyes on the Cooper ATW. If they last 55 k miles and are as good in the snow as they...
" Custom build rope"
according to that clip.
It appears to be much thicker then 550 cord. It looks almost like some light weight climbing line or heaving cordage.
I have used something of the like for climbing and rescue operations.
The streangth of the stuff and break rating is amazing for...
Hi all,
I know one of the big questions that gets asked around a lot here is what tires doe you have, do you like them etc etc
I figured that I post of review of the Hankook Danapro ATM tires that I have been running for 75 k miles now.
I put these tires on my truck after I suffered my...
Mr Buddy for the win.
Get the extension hose and plumb it to your main tank. Dead low will use very little fuel.
A co2 detector is 25 bucks at wally world or lowes and depending on the size of the mr buddy and the hose you might get out for less then two hundred bucks.
jus as a random note.....
The blizzak is a great tire but it loses a lot of its grip even with 50 percent of the tread left. the rubber compound is great for a few years but then wears down.
lots of threads on it on the web
lot of people selling them with good tread becasue of this.
better...
Those chains are near worthless on anything except glare ice and even then they break often.
its a 1500 pound truck good tires get you a long way. Driving with the chains is like driving on ball bearings hard to control.
That truck..... I would love to have if I had endless money id be all...
