New 2014 Xterra Owner- Icedragonmx's trip reports

Thanks again! I didn't bring anything for the fishing, just a camera and a few ideas on the maps for this trip! The tires are working great and have impressed me at every chance. Just need a proper air compressor so I can let the air down on the harder trails! Enjoy the K10 for your adventures...

    Maxtrax group buy?

Got mine as I was just ahead of the group buy (747) and had a chance to put them to work. You guys that got the discount are lucky!!! More pics in my Nissan thread. They work great in the deep snow! Was sitting on the frame rail this last weekend and these made it crazy easy to get out.

    Moab: 7-Mile Rim Trail

Thanks to everyone for the fuel mileage. I am trying to figure out what mine should be doing and looking at other vehicles in comparison. My weekend adventure left me with "24km before empty" on the dash. I guess I don't want to cut it any closer than that! I really do like your video and need...

New 2014 Xterra Owner- Icedragonmx's trip reports

Starting at in the morning after a warm sleep (used my winter sleeping bag), I left Morgan Falls and took a bridge just south of that on 671 and then the first trail east of the road just under Drewry Lake. Took these hydro lines all the way past Split Rock lake and came out on the highway just...

Just a short report and lots of pics from this weekend's adventures. After a long days fun making a substitute mount for the new maxtrax I was ready for a Sat/Sun adventure to find some trails. First on the list was at Lower Stewart Lake trying to get to the old railway road crossing between...

That looks like a great day of trail riding! Just one question, how much gas did you use for the whole trail? Thanks for posting the excellent video.

    New to climbing nedd advice

"Find a climbing mentor" This little hint is worth its weight in gold. Your learning curve will be way better if you have someone with a "few" years experience guiding you ;) I learned the hard way by picking up a book or three (Climbing Ice by Duane Raleigh as well as John Long's climbing...

    Maxtrax group buy?

I am in the same position with a planned trip in three weeks that this would be a huge benefit having. I gave up on the group buy seeing as this talk has been on going for the last 4 months. Would have been great to have the discount but I would much rather have the tools needed even if I have...

New 2014 Xterra Owner- Icedragonmx's trip reports

Too Funny! I am trying to get in on the group buy for two sets of MaxTrax. This would be a huge benefit in the snow and sand and as a bridging tool/ramp. Thanks! Will hopefully have more photos soon! Thanks! The iPad and Glo GPS system will open a lot of new areas for me that the on board...

    Colossal 2015 - B.C. Canada

I have plans to do just that this summer (explore the Radium/Invermere area). It is an extra 16hrs of highway driving for me just to get close to the good stuff so its nice to have a pin to aim for. I did find 5 other possible routes including a fun hike/portage to a glacier lake that will beat...

New 2014 Xterra Owner- Icedragonmx's trip reports

Thanks for the comment! My attempt to upload a HD video to photobucket was a nightmare, so that's on hold for now. I need to learn how to shoot some better angles etc. I did grab a neat shot within the city limits today... This was on Saskatchewan Ave in Winnipeg, MB. I wonder how many...

    Colossal 2015 - B.C. Canada

Great write up and excellent pictures! I have been fixated on finding the ice cave area shown in your trip report and was hoping you might share? I was looking to include this in my plans for another road trip this summer and that would be a wickedly nice spot! I have tried the whole Google map...

New 2014 Xterra Owner- Icedragonmx's trip reports

A winter trip to explore/scope out areas north near Black River etc. and other various spots “close” by. Was very pumped thinking there would be a great area to explore but found the terrain was going to be too swampy in the summer for too much wandering. Starting north of Pine...
