Take A Breath, Take Your Time, Spread Your Wings and Rise
Here is the latest truck project. A few years ago we gave the truck a Wild Crow graphic on the hood. Over the few years it was on, the vinyl wrap became brittle and cracked and peeled in places. We decided to paint it on, so I gave it a...
RUBBER BABY BUGGY BUMPERS?
Nah, these are steel, all steel baby.
I've wanted a matching bumper for the rear of the Wild Crow ever since we installed the front winch bumper. The factory chrome rear just looked out of place and I really disliked the placement of the trailer plug.
We needed...
It seems SOS Concepts had a sale and I let myself get talked into participating. The sale was good, and with South Carolina only 460 miles away we decided to save shipping costs by planning a camping/fossil hunting trip.
We hitched up the Tundra. Yes the Tundra. We wouldn't have time for an...
You know I don't even remember for sure. It was something like 250 each. I'd have to research that for the actual.

Just when you think I'm all done, here I am, back again. After a successful 2018 camping season that found us in (variously) Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina,Tennessee and West Virgina. We've added 2700 miles onto the trailer (17,800ish total since building) and camped another 20 days...

Here's hoping! They have a noticeably different sound. A little louder but not bad. They seemed to perform well in the rain this morning
The original ST was a 2 ply tire with a very durable side wall.
All those made me think Cooper, or subsidiary, maybe a RIP off copy. I may never know...
Well after a solid 60,000+ miles the second set of ST Maxx treads are down to 6/32" left. That's 4800 miles per 1/32". They wore flat and even and I really wanted a third set......
I replaced them today with a set of Eldorado Wild Trail CTX tires. The same 285/75/16 size.
Why the switch...
The ST is a narrower tread, older design and is louder on the road at freeway speeds. Both are excellent off road. The ST Maxx is quieter and more civilized on road.
My preference is to the Maxx for its side walls and quieter ride. I don't really notice the weight difference.

Moisture ruins things quick. We have to keep our teardrop under cover and filled with damp rid when we aren't using it. Left to nature ours would've been ruined years ago. Glad you're back into it,!

That's the one! I didn't know it was an issue until I was on Tacoma World. For the cost of the filter I figure you can't go wrong by doing the mod.

Back in May, we finally got to install the one thing that I wished for from day one.. Solar Panels! We purchased 2 of those cheap flexible 100 watt panels off of Amazon (Allpowers - it's Amazon's choice), along with 40 feet of cable and a nice el cheapo PWM solar charger. I hear what you're...
You know if you've been there that Flagpole Knob can be quite busy. We had traffic drive past at all hours of the night. On Sunday morning, after coffee and breakfast wraps we all packed up. We headed off down FR85, a much easier path than the previous day, I'm sure Casper was OK with not having...
Well, you see Casper wanted to get his truck, his trailer and his wife all "off grid" being the kind soul that I am, I agreed to lead him to the wilderness where he could test his set up for a weekend and finally eschew those dreaded campgrounds.
A few thoughts came to mind:
It was a long...

THE AIR NEAR MY FINGERS
Air, we breathe it, our trucks breathe it, our tires need it. I've been carrying around a Masterflow MV50 (or a variant thereof, I don't remember, I'm old and too lazy to go out and look) to air up the tires on the Wild Crow when needed. It's a good little...

THE NON ELECTRIC SLIDE(RS)
The rock sliders are finally on. I bought these years and years ago for the Tundra. Never installed them. The stayed in the corner of the garage for about 8 years!
I finally cleaned them up and welded some 3/16 inch plates to them. The plates allowed me...
Just for kicks gets some shots of the inside of the gas tank. I took these before installation...
On a secondary and unrelated note. My Baja Design flood lights had to be removed in order to pass inspection.......10 minutes tops to remove them.......10 minutes tops to reinstall.....
