It's a ways off, but Dave Bates mentioned that he would definitely have a Karavan, and I think a Kruiser also, at Expo East in October. And at least one current Karavan owner will be there. Not sure I really want to see the inside of a Kruiser in person after ordering a Karavan.... ;)

Love the attention to detail on that extended awning, especially the arc of wear patches for the top corner of the door! I'm starting out with the "standard" kwik awning and the Bedouin extension. Fall and spring camping in the northeast has enough morning dew and/or fog that it's nice having...

Sounds like you did just enough experimenting! Pre-coffee annoyance is never a good start to the day

@Romer are the poles and lines that are visible under the bed extension (on the other side of the Karavan) for the extended awning?

Curious if any reason for the choice of the 1200W setting? Or if you've played around with settings to see any difference in AH used to get to a full boil at higher settings? Either way, the portable induction cooktops are an awesome add to any camper with a halfway decent battery bank and...

Do you think 82" width is a too wide for an offroad trailer?

are you regularly going down trails where the Jeep mirrors need to be moved, or they get hit? If not, the added width might be a bummer for added drag and lower visibility, but 82" doesn't have to be a game changer. Might want to make sure it isn't going to limit you in some very functional...

What is gained by a gas 3/4-1 ton over 1/2 ton truck?

I think the honest appraisal comment is really important. I've had 1/2, 3/4, and 1 ton trucks. The cab space and options are so similar across the board that every one will get you exactly what you want, or are willing to pay for. Payload is an obvious difference where you need to know what...

Wanted to say thanks to everyone that chimed in with comments and input. Was a huge help in sorting out what to buy. Just finalized an order for a Karavan and really looking forward to heading off to some tucked away spots! And for anyone thinking about ordering any of the KKs, Dave Bates is...

Oh, and pretty sure that many of the individual components are different makes or models between the different camper brands, so not suggesting that this would take the place of any individual component owners manuals that are Dweller specific. More suggesting that the wiring schematic, some...

re. the lack of an owners manual. Quick thought from when I was first looking at what was available out there for campers like the Dweller. I'd spent a little time with google while I was looking, and what popped up appears to be the same owner/rep for OBI and for MDC USA, or at least, both...

@ROA-OFFROAD I've already stated that I appreciate the stuff you guys put out there, so keep on doing what you do. Some of those videos are good to watch when you're considering buying one of these campers/trailers. Not a ton of info out there, and pics videos from parking lots and showrooms...

@Romer KK seems to be making some of those decisions simpler. From what I can tell, all Karavans and Kruiser are now air suspensions (choice of onboard air or manual fill), and lithium batteries, Merlin solar panels, and lithium appropriate electrical components are standard. Pretty amazing...

@cmo5 awesome pic! Definitely not New England. Since you have a similar use/travel to what I think I'll have...have you found that you use your A/C at all? Like @Romer I am considering adding it later if needed. Have never had A/C when camping so can't seem to get my head around how I'll use...

Between all of the Kimberley posts on this forum over the last years, and the answers to my questions, you all have done a horrible job of talking me out of buying a Karavan or a Kruiser!! Had a great talk with David Bates, and will be putting a deposit down on a Karavan. Appreciate everyone...

    OBI Dweller Review and Discussion

Due respect, but no manufacturer or sales group that I've ever seen goes out of their way to focus on publicizing the flaws and weaknesses in their products. That's rarely a successful long term strategy! Every Dweller and other camper is going to get towed with something. Last time I checked...

Thanks all. Sounds like each awning has it's pros/cons based on how you're camping (days at each site and weather). Also sounds like all are fairly easily interchangeable based on the sail track? Takes some stress out of overthinking what Karavan use might be X years into the future knowing...

    RSI Smartcap questions?

Any updates on RSI cap leaks or timing of when they might have upgraded (non freezing) locks included with new purchases? Or other non-fiberglass cap options coming out in the next 6-12 months that are similar and don't have an integrated camper/tent top? Looking for an F150. Also, seem to...

I assume that the same would be true for added stability in windy conditions for the Karavan awning (re Bedowin extension being a useful addition to have for appropriate weather?). Or do the arms/supports on the standard Karavan awning add enough support to make the 2 awnings different beasts...

Thanks @Tucson T4R and everyone else. Not sure I'd be considering both if the pricing and tech wasn't almost identical. Somehow seems that the Kruiser should be a next step up after the Karavan. Have a feeling I'm getting distracted by the bigger, pretty, shiny box and trying not to pass up...
