She's sitting proud and excited! Ready for the next chapter of life. Next time 4wheels are on the ground it will have the front LT on.
Front end teardown happening tomorrow. Hope to have the complete CVs and Camburg Chromo axles in a box and off to CVJ for full rebuild by the afternoon...
What kind of KnarKnar roads do you travel where you need 4wheel chainup with stock tires? Just curious.
I live South of you in Mammoth and literally have never put chains on my rigs in 20 years. AT tires, 4wd and air pressure gets me everywhere. Studded tires would do wonders on icy roads...
No real progress, Ive been wrapping up some other projects on my 4runner so it is all good to go (drive and play) which will allow me to dig deep into the Tundy, rendering it undriveable for a bit.
Id love to say ill be digging into it in next few weeks, want that rear frame boxing done before...
Super-duper poser shots! Nice to be able to crawl up anything, including random rocks around the corner. Lockers rule.
No growling gears yet. Took it for a spin on the hay without any epic events. Ive had gears fail before and know the sound, will be listening with perked ears.
thx. so far so good. Tried educating myself on it before making the choice.
No leaking or noise from the diff. Only short driving so far.
What was your red flag making your tear down inevitable?
Sweet campspot!! Love perch camping.
And totally digging the ARB awning room camp. This is the route i think I'm going with the runner. So simple and non-obtrusive full protection from the elements and bugs. plus you get shade anytime, and a full room with floorpan when you want. LOVE...
On jacks and thirds pulled.
Freaked the hell out when i peered into my OEM front clam after taking off the Longside axle shaft extension. Looked very different than the ARB/geared Diff i bought.
Stock AWD
Non-AWD with stubshaft
After a small meltdown, and then pulling myself...
Lots of great ideas here. I vote for the basic fiberglass patch versions. Try to reshape from the interior, add backing if needed, glass over it.
But. Most important is adding that spacer to the underside of your NS. Looks like your needing atleast 2" to give you some clearance off your...
OK for bumper prep, i decided to go with an alum. washer fluid reservoir relocated into the engine compartment.

under the DS kick panel. HDH wired accessory switch panel. Has 8 pre-wired switches, can reprogram anytime for ignition or constant powered accessories. Still have to add a relay if over 5amps load.
velcro attached the switch panel to the overhead console next to the dome lights...
Shew!! Finally was able to take some time and get the ARB compressor fully installed. Plumbed and wired up. Quite the pain in the ***, I'm gonna say, when all said and done.
Plumbed in 2 lockers, Solenoids mounted under the compressor and protected by an air valve limited at 100psi.
Wired...
I think Brians Kits ( 4wheelunderground.com ) are amazing. Cant wait to have my crawler back on rubber 3.4 v6 powered!! Then i want to link the rear! Neverending addiction
Stoked to have pushed you in that direction! Lets see some picks of said Taco doing wild lines!!
Nice! great weather this week with the intermittent thunderstorms. So gorgeous.
Tons of forest service roads that head out across the valley and through the Glass Mountains. Head straight down 203 under 395, turn left before the Geothermal plant, road till dirt, then follow the obvious main...
Heard of his shop. but no experiences. Ill poke around, thanks for the suggestion. Fab shops all seem to be somewhat protective of their knowledge and sharing it, since I'm not offering any $$ its understandable to a degree :)
