*SOLD* 1982 Vanagon Westfalia w/ EJ-22, Subarugears Transmission + LSD

That is a SMOKING price, given today's market. I'll be seriously surprised if this doesn't sell in like a week. Assuming you've also listed on TheSamba?

    SOLD Garage Gear Cleanout Time

That's a smoking deal on that Awning. GLWS.

Stealth (safe) Generator inside compartment mods

I don't understand the requirement that's driving both a generator and stealth. If you want stealth - get a big battery and a solar setup. If you need the power of a genset, then so be it. IMHO, you will never 100% silence a generator, so any pretense to stealth is just that - pretense.

*SOLD* 2021 Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi, 16k mi, w/ FWC Hawk Woolrich Flatbed & MITS Tray

Thanks Mike, I'll check those out. There's a lot to like there. From my perspective, the stepstool has the added advantage of being standalone, so it also serves to let me reach the rear poptop latches or the back end of the engine bay, which is always fun for someone 5'7" on a lifted truck. ...

*SOLD* 2021 Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi, 16k mi, w/ FWC Hawk Woolrich Flatbed & MITS Tray

Nice! Do you just store the Torklift steps inside the camper while under way? My wife has been pushing for something like those with our new-to-us Hawk flatbed, but I've sold her on a trial period for a folding stepstool for the time being, since at least that stores neatly under the flatbed tray.

    F150 - 2.7L vs 3.5L vs 5.0L

I only recently picked up a 2018 Supercab version of that setup. Early days yet, but I'm very happy so far!

    2003 Ford F350 SRW 6.0 Manual Trans Diesel Reading Utility Bed w/ 1992 10' Alaskan Camper $45k

That indoor turkey fryer burner is terrifying, however. I have some idea of how much heat those things put off and that's scary AF.

Ursa Minor Camper Shell for JT Gladiator

I can't speak directly to John's experience, but I'm friends with someone who runs a business in a parallel industry and he had a LOT to say about the differences between working with Ford vs Stellantis/Jeep when it comes to getting approved for getting upfitter CAD models, etc. With Ford, it...

Anyone ever DIY a portable 12V compressor with tank?

Pretty much. A pressure switch that controls a relay to switch power for the compressor is the main electrical thing. Viair sells these as a single unit with a pressure switch and relay mounted/wired together - all you do is give it battery power and connect a keyed-hot source (trigger...

Anyone ever DIY a portable 12V compressor with tank?

I've done DIY OBA, (both tanked and tankless), but not portable. I imagine it would basically be the same, except for the power wiring. That said, I question the value of a very small tank. I've run tankless for many years and been fine. The only job I wasn't confident it could handle was...

    Herbie's F150 + FWC Flatbed

Not yet, but it's something I intend to keep a close eye on. The PO had the spring pack built for the tray/camper, and the Falcon kit has a basic leveling setup for mild increase in front weight. It certainly rides well at the moment, but I'm aware of the potential issues so I'm staying...

    Herbie's F150 + FWC Flatbed

Dash Accessories Mount Just a couple of miles on a washboard road is all you need to convince yourself that you want all your dashboard accessories firmly mounted and easily visible. After a couple of iterations, I solved the problem in our Astro van by just bolting a length of T-track to the...

    Herbie's F150 + FWC Flatbed

Front Plate Mount By a shocking coincidence, the customized plates I'd ordered for the Astro van (last summer!) showed up the same week I brought home the new rig from Arkansas. With a little time at the AAA office, I got them reassigned to the truck. Front plate is nominally required in CA...

    Herbie's F150 + FWC Flatbed

Everybody Poops! Jokes aside, during the early design phase of our previous camper, it became clear very quickly that family happiness depended, at least in part, on making restroom use convenient for my ladies. This was a point simply not worth arguing or trying to game. In the Astro van, I...

    Herbie's F150 + FWC Flatbed

The Voyage Home My habit of finding and purchasing vehicles from very far away continues unabated. (Our 2003 van was a fly-n-drive from Arizona, and the 1995 GTRV donor van was a fly-n-drive from Vancouver, BC.) This truck/camper package was listed for sale in Little Rock, AR, which posed a few...

    Herbie's F150 + FWC Flatbed

So I probably should have started this thread a month ago. The kiddo claimed naming rights for the rig, but hasn't exercised the option yet, so I wasn't sure how to name things - I'll leave it as descriptivist for now. I'm already behind on documenting the work on this package, so I need to get...

Does anyone own an iKamper Aiok kitchen box?

I don't have one - in fact I didn't even know what it was, but I had to go to five different websites before I found someone who had the dimensions listed, and it wasn't the manufacturer who had it. The "manual" from the manufacturer is just for the burner. I find both those things altogether...

2017 Ram PowerWagon with 2018 Earthcruiser GZL-400 (SOLD)

Wow. I was heavily researching GZLs and MODs last year, and I remember seeing a LOT about this rig. If this had come up for sale 3 months ago, I'd have bought it on the spot! I went in a different direction in February, so I'm out as a buyer, but I will watch this thread with great interest...

    Drawers: Metal vs. wood

Onlinemetals.com publishes weight per lineal foot or square foot for all their materials. Estimating the weight of a steel drawer would be a simple matter of calculating material needs. I've build many a spreadsheet for comparing materials when building stuff. That said, here's a back of the...
