    Air conditioner

Hey Jason Unfortunatly we have not seen or found any 12volt air conditioners that would really work in any sort of practical situation. They will draw TOO much power and will suck the batteries down in no time at all. I think for example, one of those 12V AC units posted . . . <"48 amps at...

Are FWC campers worth the money?

Hello there There is way more room up there than sounds like. The 27" is more than generous. I am 6' 4" tall and approx. 260 lbs (pretty big guy). I took a tape measure here in my office and measured accross my shoulders, maybe like you did after seeing my post of 27", and I was surprised...

Are FWC campers worth the money?

. . The Hawk, Grandby, & Keystone Model have 6' 6" of interior headroom when the roof is popped up. There is approx. 27" of space between the cabover bed mattress and the ceiling of the camper. If you have a Ford F-250 or F-350, there will be 6' 7" of interior headroom inside the camper when...

    Pop-up truck camper construction

I'm pretty sure the older Starcraft campers are a wood frame construction. If you are not doing any serious / crazy off road trips, the wood frame campers will probably do just fine for you. The aluminum framed campers are usually going to be a bit lighter and won't have as much chance for dry...

Four Wheel Camper: Detailed product videos

Hello eugene Over the past 35 years the FWC's have been built around a durability & utility approach. They have always wanted to keep the roof lifting simple & light, so they haven't used any cranks, cables, electric motors, etc. When the roof is empty, most customers can push the roof up...

Are FWC campers worth the money?

Hey Rob in MT In the end you will need to choose what camper you like best and what camper will suit your needs best. The ATC campers are nice, but we have a few features that cost more to build and we have a few features I like better over the ATC's (just my opinion and my personal...

Are FWC campers worth the money?

Hello Larry No hard feelings. The forums are here for just this reason, so you can all discuss the pro's & con's, likes & dislikes of what is out there, share experiences. We encourage this. We know that our campers are not for everyone. That is why there are 4 or 5 other big pop-up camper...

    Four wheel campers question???

The older, full sized, four wheel campers, and the new ones too, are at least 48" between the wheel well humps. The smaller campers going on the smaller trucks like the tacoma, ranger, frontier, mazda, etc, might be a better choice for fit. They are approx. 38" between the wheel well humps...

Four Wheel Camper (Hawk) for a family of 4?

You would be OK putting a Hawk Model on a 1/2 ton, crew cab truck, with the shorter 5' 5" - 5' 8" bed. We do this all the time. The camper sticks out a little, but no big deal. On most all of the 1/2 tons trucks you will want to add a set of helper springs or a set of air bags to the rear...
