2015-16 Outback 3.6R would be my vote. Get one with low miles or make sure it’s been maintained well. Mine has 140k and I’m about to lift it with Rallitek overload springs and Bilstein B6 shocks. Probably the best car I’ve owned. it would have to be pretty cheap for me to buy a 4cyl. Subaru.

One thing about the fuel economy of a 3.5TT, under boost….At 15psi, it’s essentially a 7.0L engine. That’s going to make some heat and use some fuel.

All I can say is that my 3.5TT F150 makes noticeably more torque with premium and I’ve read enough about low speed pre-ignition to stick with it. It gets slightly better fuel economy, the few times I’ve checked, but not nearly enough to pay for the cost differential.
