1998 (Gen II) Montero A/T tranny oil

I wish I could help you for a gen II. It may be possible that they're the same as the gen III transmission requirements. The service manual for the gen III calls for DIAMOND ATF SP III or equivalent.

Land Rover Owner Seeking Help with a Montero Purchase

Okay, I fixed the link. Also, here's a direct link to the 57th post with the contact info. I added the bit about the Nx naming convention, because it will make any threads anyone reads on that forum more intelligible. About the front locker, yes it is ARB's RD110. The part number for...

Land Rover Owner Seeking Help with a Montero Purchase

Crawling gears for the gen III models are now available. I frequent an Aussie board and there is a company that sells them there. I haven't found the need for such low gearing, but some of the guys who have them rave about them. You can read more about them here. Post #57 contains the contact...

    Backcountry baking

I used to use mine with my MSR Dragonfly. I had the one that simply fit over your own 8" pot; I never had the kit with the dedicated baking pan. Small pizzas, baked pasta, peach cobbler, brownies, cookies (albeit one at a time), and coffee cake. Great product for the weight/space conscious...

Land Rover Owner Seeking Help with a Montero Purchase

Regarding the differential gearing: The 4.9s were only available in the XLS, because it had the 4-speed in the '01 and '02 year models. The gear ratios on the 4-speed were different than those found on the 5-speed. So, it was essentially a wash between that combination on the 5-speed...

Thanks Heidi. Twist his arm; I'm sure you can do it. As for prepping for the general or extra, try the online program. It's very effictive and really speeds up the time it takes to get ready. Plus, with the adaptive testing, you will know when you're ready to take it. I think mobile HF...

I found these. Off-Roader, do you happen to have the ID and OD of those spacers or your springs? I'm curious to measure if these would fit my gen III model.

Gen I, II, III what are differences?

I believe that the only XLS year models that have the 4.9:1 gears are the '01 and '02. The reason was that these models also came with the 4-speed transmission. The limited models have the 5-speed transmission and the 4.3:1 ring and pinion. I believe that starting in '03, that all monteros had...

    New guy from Texas

For sliders, will anything for the H3 work, or are they too short? I wasn't sure if the colorado had the same mounting points on the frame as the H3.

    New guy from Texas

Welcome. Sensible lift, skid plates, tires, and a rear locker. It sounds like you're off to a great start. Sliders, good recovery points, and some recovery gear is about all you need to add. That, and a hefty quantity of maps and a compass and you're all set.
