Well the wheel being off center is a mute point now.
After driving the truck 90 miles today it loosened up and it’s almost as sloppy as the old box.
I think I’m just gonna go with the redhead.
I’m gonna do my 90mile commute tomorrow and think about it.
Hopefully I can return this.
When I had a forrester I always considered ditching the donut spare for a full size, never did though.
I didn’t off road it either, I’d been afraid to burn up the clutch.
Well I figured I’d update if anyone still cared.
Went the whole winter without any weirdness from the starter, also put a new battery in at the beginning of the winter. I think that was my problem.
Well it sat on the workbench for a month and I decided to install it today.
It was a pita.
I used a new pitman arm and I must have installed it wrong, I think it can be clocked in four different positions.
My wheel is maybe an eighth turn off.
I don’t know if I can get the pitman off with the...
I was thinking along the lines of the batteries being good for x amount of cycles. Would charging the batteries while drawing off of them count as cycling them? idk
I’m not sure if this was clear or not.
You can use either a battery charger or a converter charger.
The battery charger will just charge your battery.
The converter charger will supply 12v directly off of shore power and charge your batteries as well.
I assume the converter charger is better...
I have a 2500hd too. I downsized from a 30’ trailer, couldn’t fit it in a lot of camp grounds.
You got a gas or diesel? What kind of mpg do you get towing that?
I’m mildly obsessed with zip ties.
I used to install engines in buses. I used about 100 zip ties an install. I kept getting complaints from quality control that I wasn’t using enough so I’d add a couple here or there. Still got complaints.
Out of frustration I used about 500 on one install. It...
Brakes, brake backing plate(dust shield).
Doesn’t sound like a unit bearing IMO.
Bearing sounds more like a hum at highway speed and you can make it quieter/louder depending on which way you’re steering. The outside wheel gets more weight on it and gets louder.
I would just get a new base model 1/2 ton truck. Even the base v6 engine is gonna tow a 4K pound trailer better than an old ranger.
My work truck is a v6 ram 1500 crew cab. I thought it would be a dog but it’s not.
If it’s a sound that’s wasn’t there before I would guess there’s a problem.
Maybe take the timing cover off and inspect the timing set for wear.
I’m not sure what it would be.
There’s a tensioner that you took off and put back on?
Did the belt seem tight? It should be.
Did you double check the alignment marks were still correct after turning the engine over by hand.
