On my T3, the water filter isn’t exposed. It’s encased in insulation. Is this true for the S3 and Karavan? Not sure how you would use this type of heater unless you sliced into the insulation to expose the filter so you could wrap it with the flexible heater. Is that what you’re thinking?
Bomar, I survived with the general tank about 3/4 full with lows around 22. Tank heaters on. Elwell system set to diesel and water heater mode only, not heat. Kept it running while traveling until the temperature rose above 32 degrees. David Bates recommended this setting on the Elwell...
Buy a hand antifreeze pump. Here’s the process per David Bates: https://www.evernote.com/shard/s46/sh/8c38e7a5-e3cc-d71a-d69d-90ced238db59/c364fa589efd7014fab491f146b4e25e
I loved my Oliver Elite II. True 4 season camper. Why did I sell it after 4 years? First, the bed situation. I had the twin bed version with residential style mattresses. Very small beds. The king bed version is worse. Most people I knew who had this model left the bed made up all the...
I have a 5 liter container with drinking water and a Britta pitcher in the fridge. Will reverse the winterization of the drinking water system in a few days. Because the way the T3 is designed, Dave thinks I can keep the general water tank/system operational in the temperatures I’ll experience...
Spent the night last night outside of Dave’s shop in Bellefountaine with water in both the drinking water and general water systems. Ran both diesel heaters and used the tank heaters. It was windy and cold—I think the low was 25 degrees or so with a much lower wind chill. Very warm and...
Romer suggested that I start a thread about my new T3, so here goes. It’s at David Bates’ shop in Ohio ready for me to pick it up and begin traveling. I will arrive in Bellefountaine on Monday and leave Tuesday for a 6 to 8 week trip with numerous destinations: Marfa, TX, Big Bend National...
Tare weight is 6330 lbs. How much it will weigh packed and ready to tow will vary depending on who is packing and towing :). How much water will you have in the tanks? Water is heavy—it weighs over 8 lbs. per gallon and the T3 can carry a lot of water. I’m a solo traveler so I may not carry...
Here are some photos of the first T3 to arrive in the U.S. It’s mine. It recently arrived at the port in Baltimore and it’s in David Bates’ shop in Bellefontaine. I plan to pick it up in a couple of weeks.
I’ve spent time in Ohio at Kimberley USA looking at the new Karavan and the Kamper. I can vouch for the quality of materials, components and build. I gave serious thought to a Black Series camper. Two things caused me to buy a Kimberley instead. First, a former Oliver owner bought a Black...
I agree with much of what you said about Oliver Travel Trailers and Kimberley with a few differences. I owned an Oliver Elite II for four years. Mine was the 127th Elite II manufactured. Oliver has sold almost 800 Elite II trailers. Oliver has done an incredible job with its website since I...
I previously posted about ordering a new S3 Kruiser. I recently changed my order to a T3 Kruiser that was already in the production queue in Australia. I hope it will be ready to ship to Ohio about 6 weeks after my S3 would have shipped. It will be the first T3 built for the U.S. market.
My Kimberley S3 Kruiser is being built in Australia right now. I hope to pick it up in Ohio before May 1. I live near Iowa City, IA and will only take short trips until September. I’ll be in Western Colorado and Utah in late September into October. Probably in Nevada and California...
