In my quest to obtain parts for cheap :REOutShootinghunter (sorta), i pirated my wifes UCA's off her '10runner :yikes: Don't fret, her ride is still looking good! We've just decided this will be our thrasher and hers does not need the wild goodies to wheel hard, just enough to keep it...
So, rears all buttoned up aside from bleeding the brakes
Front in progress!!
Cleaned up the spindles and painted them in my favorite, Rustoleum HammerFinish. I find its very durable.
Tapped in the rear spindle seal for the CV. Found a small section of trex decking worked great. I tried...
got the rear ICON reservoirs mounted securely as well.
Using the 2.5" generic reservoir mounts from http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/ . cheap and easy tabs and brackets galore.
secure and way back outta the way
thanks guys! Its coming. Hopefully soon i can add some pics of the dang thing sitting on rubber and maybe even some adventures in the dirt!!

^^^^ thanks bud. i do hope it helps someone out at some point.
Theres nothing wild and new going on in the 4th gen. World right now. so all I'm doing is beating a dead horse at this point, documenting my journey.
fit up the spindles with the Total Chaos Spindle Gusset Kit.
Made for the 4th...
BFGs.
I like the Duratrac on a 1st gen runner in a 33". Great snow traction and a decent tire with that weight truck. I ran them on my Tundra and again, great tire bit i wore thru them so quick being a much heavier vehicle and towing. they were E rate on the Tundra, C on the 4runner.
But you...
Loaded up my front calipers finally
Bought the runner with these already installed in the front, 5th gen calipers.
but they had not been treated with anything, so had a nice coat of surface rust. wire wheeled them, then dipped them in Evaporust rust remover to seal the deal.
coated them with...
Couple reference pics for front end orientation. I always seem to have a hard time finding pics of how things are oriented in assembly. And i forget how i took them apart :)
Whether anyone else follows this super awesome thread or not, atleast I DO!!

Joking or not, i feel like I'm taking forever to get this thing back on wheels! Started peeling it apart, thinking i was just going to slap on a basic, decent little suspension. Every bolt i break free leads me down a small path of mild maintenance, repair, or replace (always with something...
I'm a FF/medic in Mono Co. CA. So, we have Chevy, Dodge, and Ford platform ambulances in our fleet. Our Maintenance yard is always willing to work on them, and they spend a lot of time doing just that. Only saying that bc i would rather have a vehicle that will likely not need a ton of...
From what I could find. The options for the runner would be between sintered or ceramic for performance, low warpage, low dust, low wear. Sintered wins in mud. But I don't really see a lot of mud, I see desert, mtn roads, dusty rocky trails, long steep downhills.
My understanding is Ceramic...
got a little frame prep done for the front. couple of the alignment tabs were pretty beat up, almost like the arm was in a front end accident and they were torn. Driver side was only issue. But not an issue anymore.
ran into some issues with the psgr. side front control arm. cam...
another huge resource for the 4th gen. t4r.
http://www.toyota-4runner.org
and don't forget- the 4th gen, 5th gen, and FJCruiser share the same chassis/suspension platform. Many things are completely interchangeable The 05+ Tacoma also shares the same front suspension.
