    "Solar Generator"

The name calling and trolling I can do without. Could we please keep this on topic? That's a nice unit right there!

    Dometic PLB40 Reviews

That is a really good point you make. While I did a dual battery on my 05 Sierra, I can see warranty and electrical issues on these modern vehicles. Having a small portable stand alone is game changer for sure.

I almost got the PLB-40 myself. They are really nice units. I was able to get by with a small Jackery 300.

    "Solar Generator"

To each his or her own. I am by no means putting down DIY system. It's all about choice. Heck I built my own dual battery system using chosen components that suited my purpose. I will tell you it was not cheaper than a ready made dual battery kit. I'm very well aware of the cost. I have yet to...

    "Solar Generator"

I'm not so sue about that Joe. You are going to be hard pressed to build something cheaper that comes in as compact and light as some of these units manufacturers are selling as all in one units. When you add in the labor it really gets to be costly. And let's be realistic, a elementary...

    "Solar Generator"

Well we see this forum differently. Mr Brady and his group of friends created this forum to promote and support vehicle-dependent explorations throughout the world by 4wd, motorcycles and bicycles. I have never once thought of this forum as a form of entertainment or a place to argue or prove...

Please do not assume what or where I served (Navy CB’s BTW). We are not in school being lectured by a professor or corrected by a civil engineer. Being an engineer has no bearing on this subject matter so please refrain from commenting in an attempting to correct something that is shown clear...

    "Solar Generator"

I assure you that this in no way an aggressive defense of a term. I have held steadfast of my terminology since these products were introduced some years ago. While I'm a fan of Jackery there are many other solar generators out there that are just as good. I was providing the link so as to...

    "Solar Generator"

Ask and you shall receive what the makers end user demands. As I stated over 2 months ago, it's now available. Jackery is producing both portable POWER STATIONS and SOLAR GENERATORS and quick charging. So now all the bickering and arguments that flood this forum can be quelled. Jackery has you...

    3/4 Ton GM Steering/Suspension Refresh

Going HD on parts is good except for tie rods. Always use OEM tie rods and keep a spare. It’s cheaper and easier to bend back or replace a tie rod in the field. Heavy duty tie rods lead to other components breaking.

No not at all. Florida does not get cold enough to need down.

Thoughts on this trailer power system.

That is an eye opener Bill!! I'll continue to use my dual AGM's under the bonnet of my truck. But for aux power for RV or camper you are making a good argument for using Lithium for true back up power when parked. Thank you for taking the time to post and share your knowledge. My only concern...

The all-new Hayabusa to be revealed February 5th!

I have not ever been a fan of Suzuki. The only thing the Hayabusa was good for was straight line speed. If I was to own a fast machine it would be the new Kawasaki H2. I could never get my head around owning a super bike. If I was looking for a reliable bike to do the 2 ton on the dry lake...

    Down Comforters

That is not true at all. That is folklore and a wives tale big time. The only true thing is down does not work when wet. The humidity of your breath is not going to get it wet. I would recommend to get a down quilt. This is the hot ticket for backpacking and they actually have a temp rating...

Fridge Controller for Danfoss/SECOP powered fridges/freezers

Thanks for sharing. I personally would not go to all that trouble but it looks like you enjoyed the time consuming modification. As long as you enjoyed it then two thumbs up!!

Lithium is engine bay (heat blankets)

Unfortunately you cannot say for sure how long they are going to last. Lithium technology has not been around long enough to test your theory in the field. These claims of 10,000+ life cycles have yet to be proven by the end user. That is over 27 years of daily charge cycles.

Our Full Time Off Grid Power System

I was saying it somewhat tongue in cheek. I had to jump through some hoops to get my relay system to be "better" than the DC/DC setup. I have a GM RVC that regulates voltage via negative amps through the battery ground. Let's face it the very most efficient way to charge house batteries and...

Our Full Time Off Grid Power System

Not a problem. Actually both ways of wiring that battery bank are correct. It makes no difference whatsoever with an auto balancing BMS. That's why I replied as I did. Between the BMS balancing and relatively small battery bank I can't see it as being an issue. Old habits that we acquired...
