    Kitchen Kit/Chuck Box

    I hadn't posted them: Old toolbox: 13"w x 30"l x 10’’d 15lbs empty New box: 14"w x 20"l 9.25"d (the depth splits evenly lid/bottom), 4lbs empty

Diesel heater 3kw 12v NEW, like an espar or webasto but chinese

I'm interested, and my in-laws aren't far from Frontrunner, so it'd be an easy meet-up, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to get to LA until after Christmas at the earliest. Keep me in mind if it hasn't moved by then!

    Kitchen Kit/Chuck Box

Yes, the file box is my "coffee kit" - Aeropress, kettle, two double-walled travel mugs, a vacuum flask, and a tin of coffee. I've started keeping that separate from the main kitchen because I don't want to have to worry about moving that gear between the "big" kitchen and my smaller...

    Kitchen Kit/Chuck Box

I'm putting my rig on a diet. One step in that process was that I recently went through my 30" toolbox-based Chuckbox (link) and pared down my kit (and reallocated some gear) to get everything to fit into a much smaller surplus tool case: Old: New: I relocated some gear into a secondary...

    Thoughts on the ORIS Skottle?

Yes. As I noted in my first post, TemboTusk owns a US Trademark on "Skottle", which is a unique spelling of a word not otherwise in common use. In the same way, you are totally free to create and market a line of Oat-based breakfast cereal formed into a 1/2" diameter toroidal (doughnut)...

    2020 Ford Transit AWD

Probably this is regarding potential overheating of whatever actuator controls the front/rear torque split. I know a guy who used to abuse the hell out of an AWD Honda Element in the SoCal deserts - the upper limit for him was always an overheat-warning in the AWD/center-diff controller.

My holiday present to you, then.

Quick little diy table with my hdx storage box

The updated version of the Coleman Camp Kitchen includes a stove stand that is intended to be attached to the main kitchen table, but which can also be used separately. (Which I usually do since on uneven ground it works best to have it decoupled from the other table legs.) Seen here on the...

Quick little diy table with my hdx storage box

I like it. It reminds me of the "Leg Assembly" kit that was available for the surplus aluminum medical cases that would turn them into tables: I still have this setup in the garage, but it's bigger/heavier than I need at the moment.

$200 5KW Portable Diesel Air Heater

I would not assume this is true. The operating driver for avgas and jet fuel is operating costs - these fuels are refined and conditioned to have the necessary operating safety at the minimum possible cost. There's a cost-per-hour curve, for sure: Too dirty and maintenance costs go up, but...

Are there any wide hardshells other than Baroud?

How wide are we talking? Last I checked, Maggiolina had several widths (and lengths) available. Check with Mike at AutoHomeUSA

Long Stroke vs Short Stroke 4x4 Engine, Why?

Maybe it's just me, if you're down to sweating the details of an over- or under-square engine in your rig, you've officially run out of things to geek out about and should probably just go camping. Or more accurately, that's not a detail that's likely to make me pick one rig over another.

    Sliding Solar Panel Rack Systems

Yep, been doing this in one form or another since 2014. I build my most recent rack for maybe $30 in material. Link here.

    Storage box options

I used to agree on tall totes. It was too easy for things to shift around, and small items always tended to migrate to the bottom. Soft things tended to get squished. My solution was to build lightweight organizer panels (like DIY "Trekpak", but larger) to subdivide the space. Now I LOVE big...

    Travel bed for kid

Holiday trip w/ a 6 year old? I vote "pile of quilts on the floor". If you want to make it extra-memorable, add "blanket fort".

Favor needed, anyone with a Vanagon or Eurovan Westy?

Probably could beg a favor from one of the owners over at thesamba.com more easily. Big population of van owners there. Good luck.

Cargo Baskets - Show me how you secure your load!

Not really practical, IMHO . As far as I can tell from how it's constructed, the Pacsafe won't cover over a wide/flat volume (4' x 2' x 6"). It's more "bag" shaped, where you stuff your bag inside and pull a drawstring closed. I could try to cut it up and make it "flat", but I'd still have to...

    Alu-Cab Khaya Camper

I've looked at both the US and home Alu-Cab sites and I'm confused about the insulation in the Khaya. Are the walls just aluminum with carpet applied on the inside, or is there insulation there? I get that the roof panel is insulated, but trying to figure out if this is viable for even 3+...

How to address condensation issues in a FWC/similar pop up?

It is hard to overstate just how much moisture the cooking can create, all by itself. The raw propane flame is a contributor but the food itself gives up a lot of moisture, even for "dry" dishes. If you're boiling water, forget it, you just built a sauna. Running a vent or opening a door wide...

    Thoughts on the ORIS Skottle?

Strong side-eye at that one. There's a small amount of value-add there, in that you have access to the burner on the stand without the cooking surface, but there's also value-delete in that it loses a lot of what makes the Tembo Tusk Skottle work. The ur-Skottle being thinner steel means that...
