Desert Expedition II, Moab Trip Report

Martin, I hope it is not too serious. I have been though a lot of hospital time with my wife due to breast cancer but she has gotten through it and is healthy now. Hoping for the best for your wife. BTW, I got your pictures and have not had a chance to look at all of them yet. I still have...

Air pressure in BFG AT ko's

I run 31/10.5-15 tires on my Ford Ranger. That size tire is not too far from your size tire and the Ranger is not too far from the size of your Taco depending on what year it is. Ford recommends 30 psi front and rear for that size tire. I find for the road 33 front and 31 rear gives me the...

    Refurbishing a Wildernest

Contact Astro in Garnett, KS. That is were I got mine when I refurbished my WilderNest. I am not sure they would sell it to you but it is worth a try. I have a brother that works for them and he was able to get it for me. I don't know what they use that seal for but it worked for me.

Has your Cruiser ever left you stranded, and if so, what broke?

My FJ55 never really stranded me but the engine would start running poorly or just shut down every once in awhile when on a long trip. For some reason the points would burn themselves out. All I had to do was file them a little and reset the gap then I would be off and running again. I...

    E0 v. E10 gasoline figures over 900 miles.

That sounds about right with E-85 fuel but something does not sound right with the E-10 figures. E-10 is only 10% alcohol and should see only a very minor drop in mpg. The loss should be no more than 1 to 3%. Even E-85 should not result in a 22% drop in mpg if you vehicle can adjust for it...

    Removing a catalytic converter?

Restricted cats can cause a loss in power but modern cats flow well and work very well if clean. Yes, there are high flow performance cats that give a little more power but probably not noticeable in a stock engine. BTW, there is no titanium that I know of in catalytic converters. It is the...

My new Arb fridge doesnt work!!!!!

That's interesting. Many years ago when I bought my ARB refrigerator/freezer, it arrived with a dent in it. They sent out another one right away and said UPS would deal with the dented on. UPS never did contact me about it and I ended up with two of them. The dented one still works as good...

    Air pressure

I know a lot of people like to air down as soon as they hit the dirt. I have done a lot of off-roading with a 73 FJ55 and a couple different Ford Rangers since 1977 and I usually only air down when I need to. I like to keep the side walls fairly stiff to help keep them from getting damaged by...

    Anyone heard of Wildernest Campers?

I know this is an old thread but I thought I would revive it because it has a lot of good information about the WilderNest and I though I would add little more to it. I had two brothers that worked for Guidon in Kansas when they were building the WilderNest. One brother worked specifically on...
