I've been thinking about the same thing for January. I've camped in 20 degrees before and been alright but that was with the Jeep and a lot of gear. Me and a friend are plannin on hiking/camping a portion of the AT after we graduate paramedic in December. Any suggestions for hiking in those temps?
I dont like bright colors on functional vehicles. The new color is very cool, Im a big fan. I like the "sleeper" look. I do not like the "custom car" look of modified vehicles with bright colors saying "Look at me". Purple is especially bad. Functional and under the radar is my thing. The less...
Totally agree. I LOVE an SFA truck. I love the simplicity and the articulation. I just like for all 4 of my wheels to stay firmly on the ground.
Granted, for an expedition style rig, IFS works great for higher speeds on bumpy roads. I wouldnt say that it is superior by any means though.
I have so many projects in the back of my mind right now. This is just another one that I wish I could get off the ground. If I come across a chassis I might get it started.
Thats awesome, I know how much you are looking forward to it. Mine is December 18th the day before my birthday. I couldnt think of a better present than to be done with this class.
I agree that alot of older vehicles look good with the white's out. If it is a new vehicle with a cleaner look I throw them in. I have had both and it all depends on the look.
I have two 6' sections of the steel landing mats that I was going to cut down and use as bridging ladders. You can buy them from a guy here in NC called White Owl's. $35 a piece for the 6' sections. They are very durable but also very heavy. Not a very good choice for a small vehicle to carry.
The clinical hours are dragging by in the ER. I dont know how people work 12 hour shifts in a hospital full time. It takes a special kind of person I guess. I am going crazy in there. I still have 164 hours to go in the hospital.
I can tell you that the family is definitely very greatful for recovering their loved one. My uncle and a pilot went down in a cub in the Brooks Range AK. They hit a slope in a box canyon at the beginning of winter. The recovery crews wernt sure if they could get the bodys out before snowfall...
Nice looking TJ man. I think you will be happy with it. I am sure you are enjoying the torque factor after coming out of the Yota. Honestly, I would have made the same decision. Just be sure to keep it well maintained and it should do just fine.
I honestly dont know man. I have always got great mileage out of my 4.0s with autos. I had a 96 4.0 HO with a 6.5" lift and 305s and I got a good 17-18 out of it on the highway. I am just conscious of how I am driving. I accelerate a little slower than most and I never put it to the floor. I...
I get 24 out of my wifes XJ with and AW4 Auto. My buddy also gets 24 out of the same. I have heard many different things about mileage in these things. Mine has always been great.
Dave I think we have had this discussion a time or two.;)
I'm there with Dave on most of these issues. However I do think the AW4 is an awesome trans, as long as you keep it cool! These transmission WILL overheat when they are being pushed. On the highway, on a backroad, or especially while...
Mods I wouldnt do again are any mods that would make my vehicle less than desirable to drive on the interstate. I probably wouldnt lift any higher than 4-5 inches anymore. I probably wouldnt go any bigger than 33s on a compact truck and possibly 35s on a fullsize truck. I probably wouldnt do...
I totally hear you, however I am thinking of the majority of good people who work for this department who risk their lives everyday, selflessly, to help people. They deserve respect and admiration for what they do. We all know that the media does not report facts, they spin the story to look as...
Since I am a government employee for a county EMS agency I will give you my opinion. Definitely turn it in to the proper authorities however you decide to do it. Then, I would also turn it in to the EMS director, or chief, or whoever the top official is over this particular agency. If they are...
You could always toss the axles, springs, and motor. Then find an old beat up 1st gen Toyota truck and swap everything out. That would be a hardcore setup and maybe easier to find replacement parts in SA.
