    3rd gen montero/pajero questions

Only about 8000 kms so far on this one... This one is not going to see the miles that my diesels did. My wife will be driving it as her DD and I'll drive the Lancer Sportback for the fuel economy. Unless there's adventure to be had!

    3rd gen montero/pajero questions

I've been running my 3.8 on regular since I got it, and no issues. I have an obd gauge cluster, and have been keeping a close eye on temps etc. The few times I towed in the mountains I used premium fuel, "just in case" but otherwise, straight 87. I'm at altitude, even at home, so of course my...

Got the airbags finished today, and so far they look like a bust. Whereas the ones in my gen2 could lift the rear up 2" or more, these can only muster 1/4". Haven't tried a load yet, but so far my part number looks like it could wrong... More to come on this.

Well, my gen2 sold after being advertised for two hours... So I can now move forward with the gen3... Have one airbag on so far, but haven't finished yet. More to come... I used a set in my gen2 and they survived a lot of pretty rigorous use, so I'm hoping they will serve me as well this time...

Factory tail light converter for a trailer - power rating?

Hopefully this helps? First pic is left, second right. Had a soldering iron meltdown (LOL) so had to use crimps. At least they're shrink wrapped this time, so they should be more waterproof. If you compare the old harness to the new, you can see where to send the wires, but my pics should make...

Factory tail light converter for a trailer - power rating?

Here's what I found: It looked VERY VERY close. A couple of different connections, and the converter sat in the left tail, but it looked like it was hackable, so I bought it, found my shrink tube, and went to work... Getting it home, I found that the connectors were identical (the ones that...

Factory tail light converter for a trailer - power rating?

Okay, found the pics easier than I thought... I had what looked to be the same converter as yours going to a flat four. I needed a seven round to connect to my travel trailer so I went out and got an adapter, planning to have it finished in a few minutes. No such luck... After plugging it in...

Factory tail light converter for a trailer - power rating?

Hi Nick (I'm making an assumption based on your user name... Correct me if I'm wrong ;) ) I just had the same experience a few weeks ago, and hopefully have a fix for you. Give me a little time to dig up the pics. Just got back from a vacation.

Looking forward to it, Justice! We just got back from Alaska, and I had a notice waiting from UPS of delivery tomorrow on my airbags, so I should have an update soon on whether they fit or not. I'll also take some pics of the OBD scanner in use, setup, etc. Beyond that, I need to fix a couple...

Gen3 suspension-levelling airbags? Anyone found em?

I've ordered them, but they weren't in stock - I'm heading out to the coast and taking a cruise to Alaska later in the week. Hopefully by the time I get back they are on the way to me...

This weekend: Towing with the gen3 Took the truck out as a tow rig for the first time this weekend. Rocky Mountains, steep grades, higher elevations... The 5sp tiptronic really is a good trans for towing! Used my OBD2 gauges via iPad mini, and was able to see the temp staying steady at just...

    Homemade 3rd Generation Cargo Barrier

That's quite awesome! I see possibilities for future expansion as well, if you wanted to do some sort of shelf on top of the horizontal bars, OR connect the top and bottom horizontals with window bars like you see on troop carriers, etc. Fun stuff! Very overbuilt, but I have a feeling that's the...

Sorry I made you look... :). Does get you thinking, which is not a bad thing. Is it? Update on my crossbars: sport rack (owned by thule), model number SR1009. Here's another garage pic (getting sick of these yet?) Put the second battery in the third row seat well for now, till I figure a...

Gen3 suspension-levelling airbags? Anyone found em?

Well I'm glad its helping some... I kept my bags isolated. Here's why: As much as I try to load the truck evenly, it doesn't always happen, esp with the fridge on one side. Isolated, I can get it perfectly level, side to side. I can see the argument with a solid rear axle, so you can get flex by...

Gen3 suspension-levelling airbags? Anyone found em?

Well bud, this is for you... Gen2 coils in place on my soon to be sold rig... And here's how I air them up... Hope this helps! I will always be a gen2 at heart methinks. ;)

Gen3 suspension-levelling airbags? Anyone found em?

Update, for those who are following (may be on my own here? LOL) On this site, at the bottom of page 11 http://www.airsprings.cc/4x4/Vehicle/Gremeltech.4x4.Pricelist.internet.pdf it lists the 99+ Pajero (Japan got the gen3 early, as did Aus and S.Africa) as using Airlift 80590. This number is...

Typically on a RHD vehicle, that space is there for the brake booster, steering linkage, etc. Possibly it was dual batt in a LHD diesel market. I haven't seen any Dual batt OE setups in the JDM Paj's I was looking at online before I decided to go with a "domestic import". Here's a typical 4M41...

Gen3 suspension-levelling airbags? Anyone found em?

Okay, spent all evening trying to track down good numbers. Nothing listed on Air Lift's US site for Montero, only the sport. Started looking in SA and Aus where they are more common. Unfortunately in Aus they are called polyair, but in both parts of the Southern Hemisphere they are in the...

Gen3 suspension-levelling airbags? Anyone found em?

Generally I inflate after loading. If you write down your unloaded height somewhere, you can inflate after loading (or dropping the weight onto your hitch) to bring your rig back to stock height. I always measured both sides so I could level at the same time. Levelling your suspension when...
