As a car guy, I have heard the term "paint jail" many times.
Ive never dealt with it since I do all my own painting. But from the other side of the coin, it sometimes goes like that. But sometimes its just a bad business owner.
Wish you the best!
Thanks for that part number. I was just thinking about shocks yesterday.
I bought a 56" alco axle locally for $94. I already had brakes and hubs. Hope to trial fit tomorrow. I guess furlough days Re worth something!
type in " military trailer" or "army trailer" or "M416" into craigslist. Those have been the best keywords for me to find a M416 type trailer. Of course there are other options out there. Someone here built a wells cargo with RTT. I thought that looked pretty cool!
Best of luck!
Have you been to CVT's website or talked with them? I know they have mounted RTT's to stock FJ racks. If you look thru their gallery you will see a few. Maybe it can give you some ideas. If not, contact them (Bobby) and ask.
I too think it sits up too high on a stock rack. I have the Baja flat...
I agree that $1200 is a lot, but I've been looking for close to 2 years and have never seen a $400 m416! Found one for $750 but it was complete trash. Nothing good on it! So when I finally found mine, $1200 was a good price for a complete straight rust free m416! (I actually paid $1400 but sold...
Today I got my trailer in the garage and removed wheels. Armygreen, I'm using same wheels and tires as you. My original axle is 57" from mounting surface to mounting surface. If I ran same size axle, inside of tires would fit about 1.5" from tub. If I ran a 55" like you did, I suspect they...
Looking good! I must say that those bolts look a bit too short for my taste. Im used to aircraft and minimum of 2 threads past nut is our rule. Even with lock washers.
Sorry, dont mean to be negative, just want you to be safe!
Im waiting to start my M416 and reading threads like yours...
Wow! I had not heard of this. That would be a very neat place to see I'm sure.
I love old aircraft. I used to paint them for a Cessna dealership in Tucson. Most were typical 210, etc but once in a while we would get an oldie or ww2 era plane. That part of the job I loved!
Did you ever try to move the trailer with them on to see if they were in fact holding? An 18' trailer is pretty heavy already so unless it was on a incline, it might not have even rolled without the brakes. All I can say is try it. Worse that can happen is the wires burn. Add a fuse just for...
