Trasharoo on the Jeep. In my camper I use a small trash can. When its full it goes into a plastic trash bag. I'll use one of the collapsible containers if I'm in one spot multiple days. I no longer do campfires so have to carry the burnables out with me.
My camper is 17 years and I've never broken a stock turnbuckle. Lost one that got loose. I had one that got ripped out of the camper and FWC reinforced that failure point on newer campers. I don't run any kind of mat. Since adding lock nuts I havent' had a turnbuckle loosen up in years.
If I were starting over I'd probably just carry a handheld cb for trail runs. Generally you're just listening and or communicating with the vehicle in front or behind you. A handheld is adequate for such use.
Still a lot of people who have no comms at all (not counting cell phones) and its one thing to have your group decide on gmrs or whatever but its a bit more difficult when Cal4wheel puts on an event that draws people from all over the state, sometimes all over the US.
I just received notice my application for my Uncles callsign (silent key) was approved. I just recently checked and noticed it had been expired for two years so I thought it should remain in the family. I'm now officially K6JGV.
Not hard to find info on the trail. http://4x4trailmaps.com/4x4Trails.php?Trail_ID=3
Pretty easy in a Jeep but deceptively long. I wound up coming out at night. Fantastic view of the milky way if the moon isn't out. I'm unclear on when you went. I have to assume it was before the forest was closed.
Fortunately or unfortunately depending on whether you own one or wish to purchase an FWC/ATC, they don't depreciate much right off the shelf. Almost all they guys that go DIY find it cost more than they thought, take more time than they thought among other things. Most of us don't have the time...
I've had no luck with Warn tech support. Other businesses but not warn. I repaired my warn m6000 and I was surprised by just how dry and rusty it was inside. Cleaned it up, greased it (no special lube, uh oh) and it works great again.
GMRS is clogged? I rarely hear anyone using it around here. I'm curious to see if the 4wd clubs make the switch. Doesn't exactly make the choice any easier.
Certainly I'd not run it on pavement but just to get me off a bad spot and down to an area where its easier to change a flat or do a better repair, yeah I'd try it.
I carry a tube but I'd have to be pretty desperate to use it.
