I think mine compresses about 30%, at least the last time I looked they appeared to be about that amount. It has been closed up for the winter, so will go look again this weekend when I think I might try to install the sides (maybe). ;)
New slider / steps on the way. I think? I ordered a set, turns out 'in stock' means "Might be either out of stock or discontinued by the manufacturer..." lol
Tried another place with them 'in stock' lol...fingers crossed.
Lifty lifty alert for the camper hauler. Yeah, I am still around, yeah I am still planning on finishing this thing one day. heh
Added a Bilstein 6112 3" front and rear lift setup including Tuff Truck HDX rear coils (with a Ready Lift 1.5" spacer) and reinstalled the AirLift air bags. Add to...
Although we have very different roof structures and materials, I think a nice D shapes gasket or similar would work very well. I found some stuff locally that was 2 D's or Double D? I split it in half so I ended up with a single rubber (similar to Neoprene but very closed cell) that uses a 3M...
Here on Vancouver Island in BC we have...
- Packs of Wolves
- Black Bears
- Grizzly Bears (not native to the island but they swim over and island hop here, north island)
- Cougar.... sooooo many cougars (highest density anywhere I am told)
- Rattle Snakes
- um, really BAD drivers
- High...
I used Sunbrella for all of my fabric, and it is pretty amazing stuff. It is rub resistant, UV stable, water resistant (they don't call it proof but it repels water well) and the stuff I have is fire resistant as well I am told. I went with a 3 layer window as well, outside bug scree, tinted...
One day you will be done sanding... and then about 10 days later the last of the itchy glass bits and dust will be out of your system too. heh

Happy New Year Dan!
Hope the trip is going well, and the trails are treating you well as well (so many wells in that sentence). I spent my morning today going through your Alaska Highway tips and tricks videos, and am now wanting to do that trip as well. Heh
Hope you had a great Christmas and...
Man, this is looking FANTASTIC. I love the attention to detail, and I am really liking the way that this is coming along.
Lifting a roof / cap with fabric sides is a simple and very complex thing to engineer, but it looks like you have this well in hand. With the fabric off vs. on, the top will...
Hello Mules, thanks for the post reply. No worries on the strut specs... they are indeed buried in this thread somewhere...heh, even I cant recall where?
I ordered them custom from a shop here in Canada, but I am sure these will be available just about anywhere these are sold for commercial...
The more you know indeed...heh. I guess that's how it goes when you DIY it? I am having a few challenges myself, and part of the reason my project stalled so bad was family and personal illness... but also motivation. Ran into some problems, and then more problems... and then had to re-do a...
Same experience here with Eternabond. I have used it on my pop up camper roof after using it successfully on my travel trailer. Sticks like poop to a blanket...heh, and bonds to just about anything. EPDM for sure, and painted fiberglass (as on my camper roof). Clean the surface with methyl...
Thanks Andrew... I appreciate your kind words. It has taken me about 2 years longer than I had hoped for (and counting), but in all honesty the amount of stuff I had to rip out and re-do sort of took the wind out of my sails That as well as a year off for some family stuff (Dad was sick... like...
Looks like BC plates... and a NICE rig/camper setup taking shape there. I really like that shell, and at 650# ish you have LOTS of room to add and customize. Having the short bed is a challenge, and makes finding a perfect fit slide in difficult. I made my own, but wish I had come across...
