The ride is certainly different. I stepped out of a WRX into my Canter, man that took some adjustment. ATW Super singles, parabolics, ride wasn't great but I didn't have much load on it with the drive home (I was probably 1800-2300kg under what the suspension is set up for). Wife got motion...
If you're wanting to remove the panels in the future, I wouldn't be using sikaflex. I stuck marine ply to a fibreglass panel and let it cure, ply preferred to delaminate rather than sikaflex letting go. See also

Oh, I don't know. 2 years from initial design to outcome seems to be about the norm, 5 if you're doing a complete rebuild, 7-8 if you're Owen.
Good to finally see what you're building on
Not quite. I'm designing new fuel tank and storage boxes to be mounted against the subframe at the moment. Originally had planned for 500mm clearance from the bottom of these to the ground, but may need to make it 450/400 to get the fuel tank size I want. Just curious if you'd thought about...
In a couple of weeks I'm going to have a look at a hydronic in-floor heating setup being prototyped at the moment using Styromax panels. Having a warm floor would be rather nice on non-warm days (given it doesn't get cold here in Aus)
Not yet, but only been here a few months. Has snowed a few times at mums place which isn't far from here though.
What're you thinking for ground clearance on the body?
Be curious to know how they went in the cold and high winds. The thought of those was what stopped us from going down that path. Have good test conditions for it here, -5 on Saturday night, a couple of weeks ago I couldn't get the door on the car open due to it being iced shut.
Yeah, I think it's borderline whether the solid lifting roof is worth the trouble. Next time I think I'd go fabric sides with optional hard sided inserts for if it's really windy/wet. But we expect to see -20 in this truck and high winds, so insulation is very important to us. Like you say...
I would definitely keep a bathroom inside. Not just for when it's sold later down the track, but the biggest one of all. Wife acceptance factor. If it's dark, wet, cold outside I know the last thing Heather wants to do is walk outside and find a spot to go, especially if it's warm inside. Makes...
I can completely understand - let me know when you get to the level of having the wife sit down and use a tape measure to figure out where her eyes are. Then change the design to make vehicle taller to accommodate sitting in the seat being able to look out the windows comfortably.
Will be very...
Thanks, really happy with how it's coming out.
Had a think on something that'd fit on a dual cab Canter. I'd have to check the math to make sure body would fit, but assumed 3.7m body with 25mm walls. Came up with
Big seating area to either convert into a queen size bed or have a drop down...
No worries. Fuel tanks come out in about 4 weeks to be replaced so may be out of action for a month or so after as new one gets fabricated. But happy to show you any time.
Build thread on my truck. Page 14 has end shape and start of internals buildout...
I heard about it from John. Trip is referenced here and uses their truck (I believe) for promo shot.

Chassis extension could take care of the space issue, or start with a larger crew cab. Crew...
There was a global warrior used by a family with 4 kids that went from Yandina to France.
I'd also use a crew cab, though I've been chatting with a guy designing a truck with sleeping for 4 adults and a couple of kids in a big single cab MAN truck. Lots of potential plans.
Made some progress the last few weekends. Picked up some new redgum from a furniture maker (he normally doesn't sell but had excess stock, plus was interested in the project) to make up a second benchtop for the Webasto cooker, cabinet to go in it, and really just fixing some stuff together...
If sending them from Australia's an option, I'd be happy to have them sent to me and forward them on. Would need to look into shipping costs, but could at least make sure they're securely packed
