Thank you! I thought as much, but wanted to verify. Being 62% and closer to actually weights, I have no issues with gaining a few percent. This is a huge move for me! This moves my axle forward and opens up the wet/bath more (still in there) and makes it doable! WHOA!

And that's how I'm using it, as a guideline. If I found the program to place me 75/25, I'd be questioning a lot of things. Since it put me at 62%, I think it's running pretty darn well.

When you calculate your axle position, due you include the tongue length in the over-all dimension? If so I'm seeing 62% back from tongue, 53% back on box only. This is factoring a 12% tongue weight. If true, then I'm very close to the 60/40 rule and can move my axle forward. This program...

Found two errors in the formula (well his written anyway). Corrected that and ran it for fun. I'm 2 inches too far back right now.. Not a bad guess! I do need to get very specific now on weights and locations so I can run it again. Anything forward helps with the Wetbath design. I'll see where...

North is the short answer. James/Hudson Bay, North Labrador, inland Newfoundland are the 3 next major excursions. What will I encounter? What will I need to pull through? I don't know for certain. My belief is to over-size the axle/components to relieve any issues that can occur. Maybe I'm over...

3". Think I know where you're going with this.. Sounds like I need to pick an axle to get the width.. I'm using my Dexter 3500 right now for a dimension to work from. That returns to a previous question.. Have any recommendations on suppliers of axles? Thinking leaf spring, electric brake and...

I'm confused a bt on what you're asking, but here's what I hope to match. Tire is 29" x 10". Disc is 5" back and hub looks like 3" back. My wish is to step into a taller tire, so I'm designing for 32" tall (not meaning that's where it will land, just designing for). Right now, by design, I...

Again, thank you! The spreadsheet won't open, but I did take the formula's to make my own that will! On clearance, I'm hoping for about 3-4" and some space for 'blow-out'. Though is to make the wheel wells from 1/8" plate and extend that outbound for the fender. Maybe over-kill, I've just seen...

Reached the point of needing to work out weight fore and aft of the axle. I still have my fresh/gray tanks to place (since we don't poo in the toilet, I see no requirement of a black). I kinda hoped the axle needs to go forward a bit to help out on the wet/bath. This leads to two questions...

Believe I follow what your saying, tighten up the 'A' a bit. Makes sense. Probably would have caught that in the build stage, yet thank you for pointing it out to me. I will re-draw.

Thank you for mentioning this! That is the next step after completing (or as close to) design stage. I have a place in mind to price out a galvanized or aluminum trailer. They also build utility/camper trailers, very basic design on their part.

Thank you for doing the effort! Kinda following what you did, I've come up with this. Base frame of 2 x2 x1/8 tube shown in the lower. Not sure why, yet headed towards 'C' channel on the rest.. Probably 1/16" 'C'. May do another 2 x 2 x 1/8 at the jack pad for strength.. With the spreadsheet...

So from this picture you can potential support locations. I've come inboard more than I wished, which reduces the amount of lift I can achieve. Seems be my best solution for all I wish to have. Good stabilization for resting and decent for recovery.

Axles, oh my.. I this new to me.. Looks like I can get in a 5200lb anywhere from $250-$500. Then leafs.. It's a must to match to the Tow Vehicle (TV) tires. Spacing... I had no clue there was such a thing. Actually thought 6 lug was just that... Oh am I learning... Who do you recommend to buy...

My thought is stiff for recovery when required. I do read many going 3/16".. I need to dig back into some old info I have around here on how much flex would be involved. I guess I could move the jack/stabilizers in board a bit (especially front). As far as my TV goes, I'm towing 3700lbs, loaded...

I've run my box weight and need to work on getting it lighter. I broke 1600 lbs. That is wet weight, including 2 30lb tanks (water & waste full), 2lb propane and estimated appliances / fixtures. I am not a 'steel' guy and structural steel design I really could use some help on. I'm currently...
